A family member is looking to downsize from a Toyota Sienna to a Lexus LS430. (Is that even considered a downsize? LOL!)
Any owners here on RS have experience with the LS430? Pros? Cons? Known issues? Google searches seem to yield some mixed reviews but 99% of them confirm its reliability and little to no issues in general.
Not entirely familiar with the LS430, but when I was looking into one, I found a few things that might be a "rpoblem"
With the UL(Ultra Luxury) Package, the Air suspension is expensive to replace. Somewhere around $1k a corner.
Car develops a creaking sound at high mileage, which can be fixed by torquing down the steering rack and subframe.
From what I've found though, the LS is over-engineered twice over. Other than mileage and expensive parts, they shouldn't have any problems with it as a daily driver.
Lexus has a pretty stern maintainence schedule. If the previous owner(s) followed that schedule to the tee, then the car will last well over 400k. You may pay a little more for a well serviced car but it may save you more down the line.
Have a client that has only ever owned Lexus cars, and has nothing but good things to say. He's had his 108k LS since new and he's never had any issues with it. I must say, feels like driving a cloud. Love those cars!
