Soffits covered up?
So during renos, I poked my head through the attic area to inspect our soffits. They appear to be blocked? I couldn't see daylight through them and I'm now sure what the white parallel ridges are? I'm not sure how this helps vent and keep proper air flow. Any ideas?

The picture is a little too small to say with definity, but it looks like lath and plaster. It's a pre-1960ish building practice seen it a lot of older homes. It doesn't allow any airflow.

Ahah. Looks like you are correct.

Looks just like that. Whomever did the vinyl siding and soffits just covered it up with vented soffits, without modifying the wood to allow some airflow.
Thanks!

thats actually a pretty common problem we have with new homes we build, framers puting that block you see at the end of the truss right from the top of the plate to the bottom of the sheathing
i'd maybe suggest drilling some holes or somthing if that block is continuous throughout
