Hello
When i looking at highlander for my wife we were told similar thing and also told they were on 4 month backorder. At the time I was very unhappy with this and decide to go with Santa fe xl. My wife love the vehicle and my cousin who had highlander says our Santa fe xl is much quieter and smoother then highlander.

They're selling like hotcakes. Most dealers won't be moving much on the price because they know they can sell it without much discounts.

Surprisingly enough, I've had good experiences at Open Road fleet via unhaggle.ca.
A 2015 Camry XSE V6 was purchased at 1750 under MRSP, only took a couple emails that were replied to in under an hour in most cases, and less than an hour and a half including insurance out the door.
A cargo net and all weather floor mats were included, although I'm not sure if this is the case with all 2015 Camrys since they aren't listed as accessories available for purchase.

I found Toyota cars to be the most difficult to negotiate with, when I was looking at a new 4runner. The difference between new and used was not much, they hold their value well. It was around 500-1000 dollars, while someone like Mitsubishi was the easiest at 4-5k for a similarly priced car.
That's not to say of course, some dealerships want a quick sale. For me, the Pitt Meadows Toyota offered the best discount for me.

It was a number of years ago, but my favourite OpenRoad experience was going with my Dad (we're white) to the showroom... my dad wanted to buy a brand new Highlander for himself and a brand new Corolla for my sister... nothing, ignored, no one would help us, everyone is sitting in offices acting busy... we go to the receptionist, she pages for a salesperson... still nothing... we ask her again why no one is coming to help us and she goes on the paging thing again and says "Mandarin speaking sales associate to the front desk please, customer waiting" and this Chinese guy comes hustling so fast to the desk it's like he barely had time to put his pants on... sees us... gets all confused, glares at the receptionist... but he sold 2 cars that day. Not impressed with the attitude, but weren't about to put up a big show about it and have to go somewhere else.

Guess this thread is now about bashing Open Road.
I went in one day back in 2007, spoke to some sales chick and told her I was selling my EL privately and would be back the next day for a new white V6 Camry SE. "No problem, we have the largest inventory in western Canada, if it's not on our lot now, we'll have one in our overstock lot. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow."
Go back the next day and she's not even working. They don't have a white one anywhere and offer to bring one in from Kelowna. I tell the manager (total dorky white guy) that his employee assured me I would have no problem picking one up immediately and that I had sold my car so didn't have any wheels. After some haggling I put down a deposit and they give me a Yaris to cruise for the "three days" it will take for the Camry to arrive.
7 days later the sales chick tells me that the car is at a Camry event in Kelowna and hasn't moved. She said it will arrive in 3-7 business days.
Drove that POS Yaris back the next day and got my deposit back. Went to Jim Pattison Lexus and bought a new IS instead
