icbc reccomendation
My rear wiper and antenna are completely bent at a right angle when i showed up to my car the other night. wiper no longer works, and niether does the antenna.
i was driving my work van for the week, so i dont even know when it happened.
Question is: is it even worth filing with icbc and pay the 300$ deductable?
i have heard people getting bent over for "depreciation" and having to pay ex:50% of actual repair.
notes: car is a 94 prelude, not exactly a 2016 bmw but still....
anyone recently go thru the same?
thanks!!

Up to you. I personally wouldn't do it. Doesn't seem all that important on an older car.

Can you cancel these sort of claims? Say in case you can find a way yourself to fix it cheaper

You can always cancel the claim, you can have an estimate even submitted to icbc along as a repair shop doesn't submit the paperwork for payment the claim actually never goes through.
Personally by the sounds of it get an estimate to replace whatever is damaged to your wiper and leave the antenna

Personally I'd price out the parts on the used market and see what they cost, a wiper and antenna should be pretty cheap from a wrecker.

sounds like 10 mins at the wrecker and 30 bucks worth of parts. I'd rather do that than even sit on hold w ICBC let alone make a claim.

Pickapart - $30 for a wiper motor, $5 for the antenna. Figure $15-20 in gas to get there and back (and you can fill up for cheap gas while you're past Aldergrove!). You're barely a sixth into the deductible for making a claim.
Unless you don't own a single tool or are unable to tell the difference between a wrench and screwdriver, it's not worth using your deductible. Hell, even buying the tools you'd need if you didn't own any, you're still a couple hundred dollars ahead and that's including the price of the parts.

Thanks for the replies, yeah pick a part is probably the better option. Probably faster than dealing with icbc too.
