Family celebrated yesterday. Take out chinese, lol.
Today, I had nothing planned. So, found a package of Philipino Tocino in the freezer. cooked it with a couple of over-easy eggs. Soft yolk over the meat. Put it all over cold rice. Damn, so easy, so good.

Celebrated it on Sunday and tried to explain to some Americans why we have Thanksgiving in Canada.

Americans definitely have a better date for Thanksgiving, ours is too damn early, I feel like Summer just ended here
Too much information, but my bowels have still not entirely cleared themselves from this weekend's festivities.

So I have quite a few coworkers south of the line and they had to work on Monday. I pointed out, "Hey, but it's Columbus Day isn't that a day off?". Turns out a lot of states stopped celebrating this such as Oregon and Washington because of "reasons" (offending Native Americans seems to be main reason). Is it not a day off in Texas as well?
In any case seems like the whole concept of a Federal Stat holiday is pretty flux and is a big mess in down there with so many States doing their own thing. And wtf, 2 holidays in January and November? So lucky that BC (and Canada for the most part - looking at you QC and NL) spreads it out almost once a month.

Its not a stat holiday here in the way we Canadians know it to be. Banks and government offices are closed, but most everyone treats it as another Monday. I think schools might be closed but don't quote me on that.
I was explaining to people our holiday structure and how we have a holiday almost every month in Canada, depending on where you live.
In Texas there is a "holiday desert" from New Years Day to Memorial Day (at the end of May) with not even Easter or MLK Day coming as a day off.
I don't know how it works in other states but its certainly a lot less frequent here compared to Canada.
