Are there any people in the resources industry here? How does TCK look right now? My friends ex-boss (now retired) made a fortune betting on this company succeeding during the recession.. Price point looks similar now

What are your views on reits? Seems nice to get roughly 10% dividend paid out monthly. and a lot of the prices have fallen like 30-40% last year

Best REITs are the REIT ETFs (XRE etc.), I was looking into getting some recently as well with my next batch of purchases. 6% return annually only (not 10%). Historically, REITs have been excellent holdings that protect against rising inflation rates.

I bought myself some TCK but not the bottom. It did drop to the same levels at 2008 (~under $4).

However, TCK does have some direct exposure to the oil sands as they own 20% of the Fort Hills Oil Sands project which is currently in construction. I would say TCK is a good long-term investment with good returns in 2-4 years. TCK is a highly diversified metals company and should be a stable investment IMHO.

During 2008-2009 it was due to China that caused commodities to shoot back up fast. But this time China's not going to be able to save the commodities... Maybe India.

I think we're going to see some notable bankruptcies this year from Oil/Gas and mining companies that'll spook the market.

Lots of good thing this year seeing how today went for the Canadian market. Looking rock solid when major sell-offs happening in the US.

If they (FED) continues to hammer the US dollar like they did this past week, Canadian market might be the good play this year.

The Tangerine funds have been down 4.5-11% since August when China's stock market melted down. After 7-10% returns over the last few years. I'm kicking myself for not buying in when I had the opportunity. In the meantime, I've been looking at ZUE.TO and ZHY.TO as a bit of a hedge, but I don't want to get dinged with inactivity fees.

How is it sustainable. Charging up the ass for Premium.

Market is forward-looking. Any stocks that has poor forward-guidance will be punished in this current environment, especially ones that's trading at huge P/E ratio.

Looking more and more like the days Tech stocks leading the market are over. Look at $FB, $GOOGL. Beat ER with strong forward guidance. Stock extended way up days after but ended up in blow-off top formation by the end of the week.

Not even going to the rest of the old leaders that missed/poor forward-guidance: $AAPL. $AMZN. $NFLX

It's a much needed correction actually. People are thinking 2008 but it feels more like 2000. Slow grind down to the gutter, not a sudden collapse.
