24/7 PARCEL - Ship it here

its all automated though and you need to prepurchase credits
located in blaine, and the fact that its 24/7 might be attractive

only problem, its Blaine..more likely to get taxed

I used their service for the first time over the holidays. They had a promo going on for $1 parcels up to 35lbs. I shipped my struts over there, was charged just $4, and I was able to pick it up in the wee hours of the morning (2AM)! To top it off, they also have great customer service.

Seems cool. I can see problems when it gets more popular and all the boxes are already full when your package comes in, but a nice alternative!

Definitely could be a useful alternative.

If you go late at night, you might not be any more likely to get taxed.

I usually come back from Bellingham day trips after midnight, and several times I've declared close to $1000 of stuff, and they waived me through.

It's a few minutes further than Point Roberts for people in Vancouver, but if you go late at night, it might end up being faster because of the lack of border wait.

Does anybody know whats involved in bringing items to the states from canada to ship?

For example motorcycle forks and wheel? Do I pay anything or just fill out a form? The only info I could find was business related.

How big is their facility?
I have trouble comprehending this system as TLC and p2p are slammed with parcels. For an automated system, i'm imagining a huge facility.

US customs border will always try to make it sound like you're shipping for profit. the second you confirm for profit or do it regularly, you're doing it commercially and pay $11.75 commercial fee or $205 yearly. if doing it privately, I'd bring copies of the transaction and emails/ad if necessary.

It's a fairly small facility, but alone houses something along the lines of 200+ lockers. Not a lot of people know about this service.
In their last e-mail, they did mention that they were going to be renovating their facility to accommodate more lockers, and that their customer base had surpassed 1200 customers.

Doing this will also increase the chances exponentially of you having to pay taxes and potential duty.

I only purchase things from sites that accept paypal. I added the TSB address on my paypal account so I just choose the TSB address when buying things online. Never had a problem.

How did you add an US address to a canadian paypal account?

I tried doing that (adding TLC), but the paypal profile page wouldn't let me change the country to United States (it just allows Canada)

I called paypal and they said it's impossible to add a US shipping address to a canadian paypal account.

When you pay via Paypal merchants usually don't care about the billing address, its just to verify against the credit card.

Call your CC company and add a secondary billing address as whatever receiving service you use.

He is referring to adding an address to his paypal, not changing his profile address.
You can add an unlimited number of addresses to your paypal account (Canadian, American, etc). But, your paypal.ca profile address must be Canadian.

If the merchant does not take paypal, just add the TLC address to your credit card billing address by calling their customer support.

I called my CC and they said they couldn't add a second billing address, but they could put a note on the account with the US address in case the retailer calls them to verify the address. Sadly, this doesn't work if the online retailer automatically checks the address.

I have a CIBC Visa if it matters.

So just to follow up with my previous post, I found a solution. With my AMEX card, I called the CC company and added a second billing address, using P2P parcel in Pt. Roberts. Went ahead and tried to order from that same website, but it still wouldn't accept my CC info.

I call the AMEX CC company again and explain how it didn't work. This time, they suggested that we temporarily switch the addresses around, so that the P2P address would be my main billing address. I was able to complete the online transaction, and they switched the addresses back.

Hopefully this helps somebody else in the future.

Never had issues with TLC until last Saturday at 3pm. Waited over 30 minutes in the cold. No more weekends at TLC.

LoL, I might have been there around the same time.

It was very odd... I don't know why the lineup was so long on this particular day. I've gone other Saturdays around that time, and the lineup was barely out the door.
