Targeted shooting overnight in Surrey

Quote:
SURREY (NEWS1130) - One man is dead after a targeted shooting in Surrey.

It happened shortly before midnight near 110th Avenue and 158A Street. Homicide investigators say the victim, who's been identified as 46-year-old Christopher Pammenter, was shot in his car. He died at the scene.

Cody lives in the area; he tells us it used to be a rougher neighbourhood, but he didn't expect something like this.

"[I'm] a little surprised now, because of the people that's been moving in around this neighbourhood. It's been family-oriented, quiet people. They've all got kids. They keep to themselves. It's a little shocking," he explains.

The victim is known to police, who say the shooting was gang-related.

METRO VANCOUVER -- Homicide police have taken over the investigation after a man was shot multiple times in broad daylight in Surrey.

He was rushed to Royal Columbian hospital, where he later died.

Calling the targeted attack "brazen and deplorable," Surrey RCMP Sgt. Drew Grainger said the victim was shot multiple times while sitting in the passenger side of a car in a busy strip mall parking lot at 68 Avenue and King George Boulevard.

Grainger said the shooting was of particular concern because the plaza has a number of businesses catering to families and children, and took place right at the end of a school day.

The victim has not been identified, and no further details were available from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Paramedics were called by the RCMP just before 2:45 p.m., according to BC Ambulance Service.

An employee of Greco's Specialty Foods in the plaza said she heard sirens around 3 p.m., and shortly after around eight police cruisers and a fire truck arrived along with paramedics, along with two life support unit ambulances. The plaza parking lot was blocked by police tape for most of the afternoon.

They were showing the guns on the news, two 9mm with silencers dumped at the scene. Some heavy firepower to shoot a guy sitting in his car.

i believe rcmp uses a 9mm Smith and Wesson, VPD uses a .40 S&W beretta or SIG, most police in NA use either a .40 S&W or 9mm.

Vancouver Police are investigating a daytime shooting in the West End of Vancouver that has officers looking for suspects.

Shortly before 3 p.m., police received several calls from people in the area of the 1300 Block of Jervis Street, at the south lane of Comox, who reported hearing what they believed were gunshots.

Police officers arrived and located shell casings in the alley.

Police stopped a vehicle that had apparent bullet holes in it travelling over the Burrard Street Bridge and the bridge remains temporarily closed as police conduct their investigation. Early indications are that this was a targeted attack, no suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Conflicting reports now;

Traffic has been blocked off along a busy stretch of East Hastings Street in Vancouver as a result of what witnesses say was an "officer involved shooting".

...

Witnesses say a man was shot by a police officer.
