would you date the someone with the same last name as you?

Let's say you were a Chan. Would you date another Chan?

What about dating somebody with your mother's maiden name?

Would you do it?

greendb7 06-16-2009 08:03 PM

That wouldn't even come close to being a factor to whether or not I would date a girl, that decision isn't based on last names.
She could be the girl of my dreams with the last name Rumpelstiltskin for all I care

muteki 06-16-2009 08:10 PM

I don't see why not? =S
Afterall, it's just a name.
Do you filter who you date by names?

Cereal Killer 06-16-2009 08:14 PM

Yes, I would.

Armind 06-16-2009 08:19 PM

Nothing wrong bout that =T

B-DiZzLe 06-16-2009 08:24 PM

I don't see a problem with it, actually can anybody come up with one?

Kamui712 06-16-2009 08:28 PM

it's a problem if they're from your family

KuSouL 06-16-2009 08:40 PM

hahaha that's funny
same deal
same last name ok as long as not family = =

Alatar 06-16-2009 09:00 PM

No man. That's Wong. So Wong. I mean, serious Li.

But in all honesty, I don't have that issue. Maybe with my mom's maiden name (Li) but not with my dad's. Yay for latin based European last names.

Culture_Vulture 06-16-2009 09:14 PM

I wouldn't have an issue with either,
then again my last name is pretty uncommon.

winson604 06-16-2009 09:18 PM

No issue here. I mean if there's a chick I'm totally into too I wouldn't think in my mind "man she's hot, love her personality, we get along so well and I'm totally into her, oh wait she has the same last name fuck it".

skyxx 06-16-2009 10:17 PM

They say that in Chinese practices that dating or marrying someone the same last name as you is like marrying your sibling. But that's what they say. :)

buddy 06-17-2009 08:02 AM

.. as long as she is hot ..

tiger_handheld 06-17-2009 08:36 AM

imagine if the two of you get married, she wouldn't have to fill in the papers for a legal name change ;) ...

saving money = WIN

Noir 06-17-2009 08:47 AM

Hahaha. Not exactly a name but this reminds me of one time. I once got laid because a chick I met had the exact same birthday as me, right down to the year.

BallPeenHammer 06-17-2009 09:18 AM

i wouldn't give 2 fucks or a rat's ass.

liu13 06-17-2009 10:45 AM

she has to be amazing, otherwise i would just try to be friends with her, at most keep it on the DL

silk 06-17-2009 01:23 PM

Chinese culture suggested not to, but i dont really care.....
Might be a problem if you guys are somewhat related tho... that might be 1 in a millsion chance

q0192837465 06-17-2009 02:22 PM

of coz. i dun see why not

ZhangFei 06-17-2009 05:40 PM

are you guys saying you wouldn't mind dating someone with the same last name as you based on a hypothetical situation or have you actually done it or know someone who has?

RabidRat 06-17-2009 06:52 PM

is there a story behind this thread? =p

:haha::haha::haha::haha:

You would also save an argument about her insisting on keeping her last name lol

The difference between my last name and my gf's (Chan) is an extra 3 letter. Last names dont matter much in the greater scheme of things, unless your family objects and you're a mama's boy, then you're SOL.
