RIDE SAFE OUT THERE.
Bad accident today in Richmond involving multiple riders from a local team at the east end of River Road and Westminster Hey.
1 dead 5 in hospital.
Driver drove into the oncoming lane through a blind corner while the group was riding normal in their own lane and got smoked head on.
Injured and deceased are from Gastown Cycle Club.  Crash involves multiple cyclists on River Road in Richmond, B.C. - British Columbia - CBC News

Wow. That's awful.
Obviously everyone feels bad for the poor riders. They were innocent, following the law and enjoying life. But once I read that the poor kid driving was 19 years old I can just imagine what kind of guilt he will be going through for the rest of his life. I don't know that corner, but I do know what driving as a young adult was like. RIP, and hoping a speedy recovery for those injured.
What a shitty circumstance.

Crazy as it sounds, I had a PM shortly after purchasing from a member on here. He's the original builder of the bike and gave me all the details! I was so thankful that he took the time to message me. Really fills in the blanks. I also feel like I got a smokin' deal. I've had it out on a couple short rides, after changing the stem to something a little longer (Also matched the fork, Easton EC90). I'm really enjoying it. The one thing I notice is the short cranks (170mm, I'm used to 175mm), and not so stiff head tube/fork. The fork is reaaallly light. Add to that, it's a 1" steerer tube and it's not the stiffest thing, but hey, if it doesn't break on me, I'm happy.
The BB on my bike is ~1993, a size obviously no longer used, and really really tiny. No adaptors are available, so I can only use square taper cranks. Very very few actually fit properly due to chain line. I can make changes, but they don't come cheap. I'm super happy with the purchase thus far though.
Having a newer frame makes sourcing parts a bit easier. Good luck!

Right around $700cad, although we'll see if I get dinged crossing back from PR. Frames should be, but I've been luckier in the past. You're definitely right in the advantage of a modern frame, makes wrenching on it a whole lot easier.

| I'm sure you've looked into it thoroughly, but just in case you didn't. Does your bike use a 68mm bb shell with English/italian threading?
For mtb's bb shell sizing didn't really change for the most part until the last few years with the popularization of pressfit bb's. ie. I could fit a 2016 shimano threaded external bb into my 1994 MTB and run shimano 2016 hollowtech ii cranksets.

Unfortunately nothing fits but a company does still make a assortment of square taper spindles, so I can have my choice in square taper cranks, which are still widely manufactured.

Giant has been put away for winter. Sleeping giant. Got some strap on fenders on the fixed to keep riding through winter. Nothing more refreshing than bike lanes all to myself.

So I decided to build a dedicated track bike and I'll probably try to source a langster pro frame again as a base.
Thinking of getting another set of omnoms for the cranks and using the arms for the track bike and chainring to replace worn chainring on my daily beater. Anyone every run a 52/15 ratio before? Thinking of pairing fsa 52 track ring and DA 15.
For wheels I might stick with mavic or try something new. What are peoples' opinion on hed3 for a front?

Picked up my first road bike over the weekend. 2016 Trek Emonda SL6. For those that live in a condo that doesn't allow bikes up in the units, what locks are you using to lock them in your bike storage? Condo's in DT have always had problems with break-ins unfortunately.
Also, any recommendations for a good helmet?

That's such an odd rule. I would still store it in your condo until told otherwise.
Try MEC for helmets, but all the cool kids are running Kask Protones haha.

Carry ur bike thru the building until u get told otherwise. And maybe get to know the building manager?
tell them that u refuse to chain a $5k bike in a general storage area. They should understand
