i heard this from my buddy & im not sure if it's true or not

AutozamAZ-3 06-27-2010 02:08 AM

think we already got this in the mail, i got 60 or 80 i cant remember though

orange7 06-27-2010 02:32 AM

why would the government do that?

wasn't the whole point of the HST was to increase government spendings on artificial lakes?

FerrariEnzo 06-27-2010 04:56 AM

they probably did this so they can ease the ass kicking they are receiving from us!

question is, is this going to be for every tax credit for a 1 time deal?

winson604 06-27-2010 06:31 AM

I hope we get some free money. Correct me if I'm wrong but before the new tax kicked in on gas like a couple few years ago didn't we also get a small check in the mail for that too?

godwin 06-27-2010 07:18 AM

Only Ontario gets a HST rebate cheque, BC won't get one.

Supposedly low income family will get some money.. but I suspect it is a minority of users on RevScene.

tiger_handheld 06-27-2010 07:54 AM

^ godwin is correct. Only ontario residents will receive a check. BC Gov't will use the transfer bribr from federal gov't on healthcare, paramedics and other similar stuff.

Durrann 06-27-2010 08:08 AM

i think the low income families are getting around a $230 rebate??

but nothing for the middle income.

Quote:

Hansen also noted low income families that make less than $25,000 per year will get rebates of $230 per family member per year. He also noted an $80 savings for every citizen thanks to an increase in the province's basic personal tax exemption.

Amanda Sung, a 25-year-old employee of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. questioned Hansen on the impact of the HST on the middle class. She said as a single person making $35,000 per year she would not be privy to any rebates and many of the things she buys will be more expensive now.

"I don't think he addressed too much on the impact on young working class [people]. I think he avoided those questions. When asked what the impact would be on the middle class his example was with someone making $80,000. I [think] that's not the middle class," Sung said after the forum concluded.

So they are bribing us so we will accept the HST for the long haul. LOL

rageguy 06-27-2010 03:30 PM

Those who are eligible will get a GST/HST credit cheque. The next cheque will be on july 5.

The poor get breaks for obvious reasons.

The rich can afford accountants that find them the breaks, and investments which are tax-advantaged to encourage them to keep their money in Canada.

The middle class is too busy spending their money on granite counter tops, stainless appliances, iPads, BMWs, and overpriced Starbucks coffee. If they could only learn to save, they could afford the same tax-advantaged investments (albeit in smaller amounts) and be on the road to financial independence.

Once you go granite, you don't go back. Stainless steel appliances are over-rated though as they're a pain to keep clean.

I prefer coffee from 49th Parallel roasters, thank you very much.

I guarantee you that people will go away from granite. It's a matter of time.

Just remember (well, maybe you don't):
- avocado green appliances
- shag carpets
- 5-10 yr old "contemporary" furniture

Fashion sucks.
