P-Funk69 06-16-2004 06:52 PM

How much did it cost at G5?

Sp3cial_K 06-16-2004 09:22 PM

i was at kal tire once and they guy said they refinish rims for $80 a pop

impactX 06-16-2004 09:26 PM

Why would you bring it to G5 when they are just going to send to other shops?

Anyways, do a search.

EuroTRASH 06-16-2004 09:52 PM

green's
panther's
anywhere else sends there wheels to either of these places, or does inferior work.

Deception 06-16-2004 09:59 PM

The only three in town are Panther, Greens, and Nu-Brite.

since there is only 3 places, G5 must use one of them....

Cman333 06-17-2004 01:54 AM

we personally get all ours down at nu brite, they'll come pickup the rim too. ^^

Greens is good, panthers is good too.

any other place u take it to to get fixed goes thru these guys, and u prolly got ripped off cuz they just sublet to someone else and take a cut. :)

Deception 06-17-2004 02:31 AM

I've heard tons of good things about Nu-Brite. The guys there are super nice, do awesome work and a lot of the restoration crowd send their vintage wheels to Nu-Brite for reburbishing. When I pick up my wheels I'm probably going to have them fully polish the wheels.

Nu-Brite.
They're in the phone book.

edit: Hey, I found a business card.
#3 - 9535 190 st Surrey, BC
888-3630.

Talk to Simon, as he's part owner/sales, and an interesting guy to talk to.
:)

Just dropped my wheels and tires off today at Nu-Brite. Richard is a super nice guy, stop by and he'll take a quick assessment of your wheels and shoot you a price quote. Nu-Brite's prices are definitely lower than the other shops in town.

I'll let you guys know how the results will be. I'm having some light curbage removed and the wheels fully polished.

keitaro 06-18-2004 03:36 PM

post pics! and before pics if u have some

Deception 06-18-2004 04:01 PM

I'll try to post pics if I remember. :D

You'll see the rims at my AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants booth at the DTP show next Saturday.

Oh yeah, Garage Five sends their wheel jobs to Nu-Brite. I saw a finished batch today that was to be returned to G5.

because they hooked me up im a regular customer there it was cheaper than what panthers n greens quoted at. I forgot what panthers said but they said the minimum was x amount of dollars n garage 5 did it for cheaper.

Deception 06-18-2004 05:29 PM

Going through a middleman like Garage 5 isn't a bad idea, especially if you have a tight schedule and can't find the time to drive to Surrey to have your wheels done.

PS: Nu-Brite gave me a price on my job that was about $100 cheaper per wheel than what Greens quoted me for the same thing. Go to Nu-Brite. :D

No way!!! :damn: Wow, great to know! :coo:

If I can spare the money I'm going to need some refinishing some time in the future on a couple vehicles...

Ironically, Nu-Brite is the one place I DIDN'T phone when I decided this would all be too expensive. :p

Deception 06-19-2004 02:05 PM

Just stop by the shop and ask for Richard. The shop is right off exit 53 on Highway 1 so it's super easy to get to. He's a super nice guy, and he actually remembers his customers by name (unlike many other shops.) He likes to wheel and deal (no pun intended, hehe) so bring your wheels that need work and he'll take a look at them and give you an estimate. Benefits if you pay by cash. ;)

Deception 06-27-2004 03:13 PM

As promised, here are the finished pics of the wheels I had refurbished and fully polished at Nu-Brite. As you can see, the workmanship is perfect. I am extremely satisfied with their work and promptness. They said the wheels would be done in a week, and they were!

Unfortunately I don't have any "before" pics, but basically the wheels were curbed and had some clearcoat clouding issues. Nu-Brite machined out the curbage, stripped the wheels of clearcoat and then fully polished them. The wheels are now fully polished and do not have any clearcoat.

Big pics:

holy crap that looks nice

imp>dom 06-27-2004 05:45 PM

absolutely AMAZING, so how much did it cost you Deception?

Deception 06-27-2004 05:47 PM

$160 per wheel out the door, which includes repairing curbage, stripping clearcoat, fully polishing the face/slots, creating a satin finish on the bolt holes and rear of the wheel, and tire mounting/balancing and taxes.

For comparison, Greens in Richmond quoted me $250 per wheel for the exact same job.

Talk to Richard at Nu-Brite; he's the general manager and will take good care of you and your wheels! :)

penner2k 06-27-2004 09:46 PM

I just brought my rim into Panther a couple days ago to get the wheel repaired.. I was missing a large chunk of my rim from going into a curb..
they gotta weld in a new piece, straighten out the rim and keep on going back and forth like that till they get it right.. they quoted me $175
