Battlestar Galactica

Anybody see the 4 part TV movie?
The series is being aired very soon on Space.

yameen 01-10-2005 08:43 PM

this movie has some background scenes at sfu. the stairs with rocks. is this tv movie kind of like "legend of earthsea" starring kristen kreuk?

BMWSTEVE.604 01-10-2005 11:17 PM

i've never seen the old battlestar galatica, but i was told they changed alot for the new ones, i guess to make it more up to date with the new sci fi stuff...

but so far it seems interesting, but i wonder how many seasons they can make of it... because it doesn't seem like theres a lot to say... it's a convoy of ships trying to find earth?! with robots chasing them... ??? are there other species?

I'm a fan of the original series.
The new series is very refreshing, and is respectful enough to pay tribute to the original series through the use of old data in the new series (names of charachters, the vipers, old cylon schematics, even the design of galactica & a few other ships).

Yeah it's shot in vancouver, hence the SFU setting. It has as much potential as other Sci-Fi shows. DS9 was nothing but the daily life onboard a space station, and that went on for 4 years.
Voyager was about a ship that was heading home, and that was able to complete several seasons as well. The story of Galactica has started with so many sub-plots that there is potential for many different episodes. I've already downloaded episode 11, so I'm very "into" this series already :)

Ooooo.... I saw parts of the behind the scenes... looks pretty good!

seakrait 01-12-2005 11:02 AM

i read the books... then saw the original series... and it ruined it for me. i had much cooler looking ships in my mind when i was reading the book and the cylons didn't look as stupid.

if you remember the A-Team intro credits when it shows Dirk Benedict, the actor who plays Face, you see him in a scene on a Hollywood lot where an actor, in Cylon costume, walks by. i always laugh at that because Dirk Benedict played Starbuck in Galactica.

0000000000 01-12-2005 10:22 PM

LOL, I know the episode you're talking about.

Funny how Dirk is better remembered as "Face", rather than "Starbuck"

Also, Lorne Green is better remembered for his role in "Bonanza".

It's a shame how the original Galactica series has been overshadowed in every way (by star wars & Star Trek, the actors remembered for other roles, the lack of sindicated re-runs, etc).

seakrait 01-14-2005 08:21 AM

hahah... true. when is the new series being aired on Space? i want to catch it. do the cylons look as stupid or do they look properly menacing now? and does galatica and the vipers look the same?

edit: oooooooh. :) http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/ships/

seakrait 01-14-2005 01:39 PM

so wait, there's the four part miniseries... and because that was successful, they're coming out with 13 more episodes right as an actual series on space? hmm... i missed the miniseries as well... any idea of how i can watch it? anyone have it downloaded?

skaquix 01-14-2005 03:23 PM

just bittorrent it...
there's already a bunch of episodes that aired in uk.

0000000000 01-15-2005 12:55 PM

UK has the exclusive rights to air the episodes before North America.
So since it's debut in early november, I've been d/l the ripped episodes of BT.

Not to worry though. The episodes will be starting either tomorrow or tonight on Space.

seakrait 01-18-2005 07:31 AM

i missed it. :( booourns on me. when is it on next and at what time?

skaquix 01-18-2005 09:26 AM

did anybody download yesterdays new episode?? (the new UK episode) during the credits it said that nextweek is the series finale. can anybody confirm that? series finale?? there are way too many loose ends to finish the series in a 1hr episode.

0000000000 01-19-2005 01:17 AM

the finale is a 2 part episode.
Not to worry.
I'm certain that plans for the 2nd season are already underway.

0000000000 01-25-2005 08:09 PM

Damn!

Just d/l & watched the 2 part finale.

I didn't think they could do it in 13 episodes, but they did a pretty good job. Highly reccomended!

seakrait 01-25-2005 09:32 PM

boooourns... i'm so out of the downloading world. need to get bt... :(

Jayjay 01-25-2005 11:37 PM

damn, captain odama or whatever is name is got owned. i'll be surprised if he survives, i know he probably will though.

BMWSTEVE.604 02-02-2005 09:18 PM

so that was SERIOUSLY the series finale?! WTF?! i don't get it?! maybe it's because i'm too young or because i never watched the old ones... but WTF?! hahahaha

0000000000 02-02-2005 09:38 PM

Yeah. The old one was alright for its time. But to imagine a fleet of ships cruising through space for 100's of years, and not a single piece of deterioration....kinda lame.

In this new series, you'll notice that adama's uniform is actually getting more & more tattered as the episodes go on. Furthermore, the Vipers that were once in showroom condition continually to look more & more battered.

seakrait 02-03-2005 11:18 AM

think it'll come out on dvd?

beanzzz 07-30-2005 01:04 PM
