I have a 9600 np and running it at low settings. I might go pick up a sapphire 9800 pro for $176 at ncix. I know the 6600 is newer and better but from what I read the difference isn't that big.

If you are buying a new video card, go straight to 6600GT. You can overclock it to 6800 (none GT) performance.

krazynuck 06-22-2005 07:36 PM

i got dvd version at FS in richmond, they called me when they got it in :)

Ch28 06-22-2005 08:35 PM

They called you?

I got pre-order and nobody gave me no stinking phone call....but then again it's the Metrotown branch and they lick ass when it comes to customer service.

I stood in line for 30 mins waiting and all I wanted to do was get my fucken game! There was a line of 6 people and only 2 CSRs working there.

Ch28 06-22-2005 08:36 PM

Does anybody want to play tonight on skinnypupp's server?

I'm down :D

SkinnyPupp 06-22-2005 09:58 PM

Wow, the server was pretty much filled with all 64 players tonight! Mostly guys from a clan called PDX

Then this happened:

http://carlrules.com/images/bf2_server_fun.gif

I'll try to find out wtf going on ; that is just unacceptable.

I have to play the game on my laptop, because it won't run longer than 10 mins on my desktop before crashing :(

Ch28 06-22-2005 11:06 PM

I'm running it off my Dell 6000 and it's fine.

Does that mean those guys were hacking and that's why "Punkbuster" is in those commands?

sunny_31 06-23-2005 12:49 AM

Is this the retail dvd/cd version or a pirated copy?

I find that sometimes my game just freezes on me during the online server menu. I can still hear the music and my mouse can still move around but when I click nothing responds.

mos_skeeto 06-23-2005 12:52 AM

From the threads I read at gamefaqs ati cards have been having crashing problems.

[RSX-S] 06-23-2005 12:58 AM

Luckily mine hasn't been crashing yet (touch wood), but I'm getting aweful lag spikes. Frame rates are good, it's just choppy.

Ch28 06-23-2005 01:49 AM

I find single player isn't as fun as multiplayer...AI just doesn't follow orders as well as real life players :p

We should start up a revscene clan :D

impactX 06-23-2005 03:32 AM

Kev, the more time you spend on this, the faster I will surpass you in WoW. :p

ecor 06-23-2005 08:06 AM

got my copy yesterday............all i can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!

Narayan 06-23-2005 08:43 AM

ya i also got it yesterday.

Some maps are ALLOT better then others... but overall i had allot of fun.

there was this one city map that totally reminded me of BLACK HAWK DOWN, when the squads were fighting in the city... fucken wicked map.

Yup. Be sure to update your drivers though. My desktop crashes all the time, but my laptop plays it no problem.

Luckily my laptop is more powerful than most peoples' desktops ;)

[RSX-S] 06-23-2005 11:32 AM

Nobody else is getting lag spikes?

Narayan 06-23-2005 11:36 AM

i had awesome ping yesterday.

quasi 06-23-2005 12:19 PM

Skinnypup, is your server a ranking server?

[RSX-S] 06-23-2005 12:36 PM

Hmm... I read just forumplanet.com and it seems a lot of people have that problem too, regardless of the video card (ie. X800, 6800).

Btw, it's not the ping or framerate, they're just occasional lag spikes (even with like a 60 ping or lower).

Someone suggested manually updating PB... wonder if that will help.

Narayan 06-23-2005 01:20 PM

ahhh.... well i noticed no lag spikes last night, i was playing at LATE hours though 11pm-2am

[RSX-S] 06-23-2005 01:38 PM

So anyone going on Skinny's server around 10-11 tonight? :)

Yes ALL THE TIME. Although not on my server, oddly enough. Then again, my server has that little problem where it just kicks EVERYONE off at once

SpuGen 06-23-2005 02:14 PM

this card decent enough to play bf2?
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...cture=SAPPHIRE

sunny_31 06-23-2005 02:21 PM

This is the error i get
http://img294.echo.cx/img294/5637/bf2error9qr.jpg

Everything loads up fine but once I start playing anywhere from 10seconds to 2min into the game I get this error. I have updated drivers, even used driver cleaner and started from scratch by reinstalling the game. BTW the demo runs fine no problems

again system specs are
p4 2.4
1gig ram
6600gt
asus mobo
