lol when u rename an image file, it doesn't show it as an edit?

Senna4ever 03-07-2006 01:12 AM

He did it on his host server, not RS.

dub.dub 03-07-2006 01:21 AM

oh, then no need to rename! :p

Mananetwork 03-07-2006 01:21 AM

your windows browser saves every image in cache. When the thread gets refreshed it checks if the same image is being loaded again. But because I changed it, your webbrower notices the time has changed and does a quick update

dub.dub 03-07-2006 01:23 AM

yup i know but senna said rename so that confused me b/c that requires changing the actual's post url

but it should just be a simple replacement on ur host server i see now :)

Senna4ever 03-07-2006 01:24 AM

Yep. He's smarter than he looks.

Senna4ever 03-07-2006 01:44 AM

Sorry, 'rename' was the wrong word to use.

I'd like to add that even though I was posing.. I was putting in feedback for the lighting and other things

It was fun! It'll be my turn to pump out some shots! Maybe I'll post my renditions of the photos.

I think we got Tom addicted to posing and modelling... In anycase, I'll post some stuff after.

dub.dub 03-07-2006 01:07 PM

he loves himself :P

Mananetwork 03-07-2006 01:24 PM

I totally understand how it feels being the shooter and the modeller. When I strike a pose I can see it exacly how it's going to turn out and how I want it to look. So it's the best of both worlds :)

[azn angel] 03-24-2006 11:12 AM

shameless self promotion...
ahah lol. can u say poser?!

Nice Dennis.

Is it intentional that the baseboard is slightly slanted?

k.dub 03-24-2006 11:16 AM

Yes I realize its not an innovative nor novel idea, and I obviously wasn't trying to play it off as it was.

The concept of the original, as I see it, is as follows: A man full of rage and anxiety is on edge. His problems are so severe that he has resorted to a weapon to resolve them. The solutions are not diplomatic, and rather are as clear and black and white as life and death.
His white suit and black shirt symbolize the same contrast. But is also a symbol of inner rage (black shirt) covered by restraint and self-control (white suit). However, since his stance is facing towards the black with a weapon in hand, and the white portion of the image is slowly fading, it means he is ready to take on the problems with absolute force (gun in hand).

In contrast, my image is slightly different: It is a man in almost the same predicament: full of problems and agony. His problems have contained him in entirety (black suit, black shirt), and he is also holding a gun in hand, which signifies he is ready to respond in the same manner. The suit is starting to darken, which means he is being contained by the corruption and indescency of the dark side. However, his face makes all the difference. His face is turned towards the lighter side, contemplating a different way out. It is as if he is going through a process of enlightenment, sudden epiphany. What will he do next? How will he react? HI Salar?

seems like it has taken you more than 1 year to post the refined version of the Scarface shot?

(and this is the one i have:
might have posted it before,)

sorry its another self portrait with a camear in front of me, but at least i think its a more creative one!

EDIT: by the way the Doc, what are u studying as a graduate student??

laurencepak 03-24-2006 03:36 PM

oh,

does that make you the Doc-to-be too?

or you are a ph.D already?

Car Chick 03-24-2006 04:08 PM

laurencepak, the watermark on your photo is way too distracting. if you're going to use plain font, make it smaller and less "cheap/quick" looking

on the other hand, the photo is amazing!!! i really absolutley love it. :) great composition and really innovative
i also like the fact that it's black and white. expresses the movement more strongly

haha, i don't like my watermark too.

i know its cheap looking because its done by a cheap program.

but i haven't had the knowledge to do a better one on photoshop yet.

maybe someday =)
thanks for the complement!

seems like your "self portrait" is in very high demand! =D
