You're probably right, I had my turbo rebuilt when I bought my kit, I thought it was only $300 to rebuild it, but I can't really remember for sure - so it was probably more, that was a long time and many $$$ ago....

That's the part I can understand! A 12.5 sec P5 would be very nice indeed!

I'm thinking about a clutch upgrade (since I'll be ripping out my tranny) and I'm wondering what others experiences have been with aftermarket clutches. As most of you know, I mainly autocross with my car, but I did participate in the Alberni drags this summer, so I shouldn't rule out the occasional drag race in the future.
Just looking for comments/suggestions/recommendations.

ACT makes really good stuff. Check out their product line online!

So far I have found 3 applications that will go in my car.

Spec - Stage II+

ACT - Z66-HDSS

Clutch Masters - FX100 (Stage I)

Centerforce may also have one but I haven't been able to confirm it yet.

So anyone got any input on these from personal experiences?

mspeedP5 11-04-2005 03:18 PM

Got this message back from Centerforce...

Hello Mark,
Thanks for the e-mail.
Now we do not have anything for your 2003 Protégé, probably the 1st quarter of next year.

PHRiSCo 11-07-2005 09:59 PM

Yeah I have Spec stage 3 and Spec Flywheel. Great clutch really light pedal, I love it!

If you're in Vic when I'm over there you can try it out, after my car is back on the road of course.

BTW if you aren't going to run high boost I'll trade you the GT28RS for my stock T25 plus $$$.

Think about it if you want to save some cash, Mental Addiction is building my new shortblock right now! :D

NashMan 11-07-2005 10:07 PM

spec evil they use plain stock pp and use diffetn disk

mspeedP5 11-11-2005 06:03 PM

Crappy weather, day off work, bunch of parts laying around, hmmm, might as well see if they fit together.

Ya I know. "Why haven't you installed it yet?"you ask.
Well the answer to that is I have all winter to do that, along with the MSP LSD and a new clutch(which I'm still deciding on). In the meantime, the car has been winterized. CF hood is in my living room, 17's are off, mask is on and the wax is thick!

Looks like a Tial 38mm to me. The 40mm uses the 4 bolt flanges.

Nice setup though man. What turbo is it?

I'm using a Spec stage III in my Volvo. My car uses a dual mass flywheel, so the clutch disc is unsprung. It is also a 6 puck so it took a while to get used to, especially in stop & go traffic. Other than that, it's got a nice light pedal feel and quick engagement.
