Mary Anne Bobinski at UBC is also a huge figure in health law and quite accessible to students.

Yes it is. In my work as a forensic transition worker, we get forensic clients, who have been found "not guilty for reason of mental disorder." Offences range from theft and vandalism, all the way up to manslaughter and murder. However, out of all the different clients i've worked with, these ones seem to be the most motivated. Its really refreshing to see people improve, progress and get healthier, to the point where they can live on their own in the community.

The wait lists are so long for supportive housing however, its hard to see clients kneecapped like that when they've worked so hard towards their goals. The government has just announced that those receiving disability can now earn $500 instead of $400 on top of their disability benefits. So that should be of some help to them.

Yeah, I heard about the increase, didn't know that it came through.

And I'm no longer at VGH, I'm at UBC hospital now. Long term care is where I'm at

Talking

Surprised at all the health professionals here!

I finished my pharmacy degree this year too so I'd be interested in seeing who else jumped over from pharmacy.

^ Ah... good call... But I don't believe there's any on the board right now (KChen's a nursing student, not an OT) so i won't put that category up yet... When one pops up, post here, and we'll add OT's to the list...

Wow, so many health care professionals/ professionals to be on RS!!! I'm currently on standby for Optometry, but if that falls through, pretty much set deal for Medical Laboratory Sciences in Sept!

I'm a lil different... I make the drugs you guys will hand out But it's still related.

I am currently employed as a Project Manager in Drug Development for a biotech company. Basically we have a compound that has demonstrated efficacy, now it's my job to push it through clinical trials and past the FDA and other regulatory agencies

Pretty cool job, I like it Don't know if it fits in your list, but it's close.

ok jewell, i've placed you into the category of Drug Development Let us know more about your work when the time is right and you're allowed to talk about it Hope to see your work on the market someday

and Jermyzy, heh i don't know why i keep thinking your name is spelt Jerymyz anyways, i've updated that... and congrats on passing the PEBC! where are you off to work now?

You know what i just realized? You know those threads where people post up odd medical problems, and then everyone tells them "what the hell are you doing on RS? Go see a doctor!"

Sooner or later, RS could actually become a decent source of medical info
woot

Be sure to also visit the newly opened 'Healthcare forum' too, guys/gals

RS opened up the 'Healthcare forum' (http://www.revscene.net/forums/forum...hp?forumid=269) based upon the discovery of so many RS healthcare students from this thread... and seeing the need for it stirring up from the 'Sports & Recreation' forum.

Afterall, its better that RS members hear suggestions/opinions from students, potentially working in healthcare, rather than hearsay

by the looks of it at the moment, it looks like theres gonna be a new nurse on the board soon.. unless someone denies their pharmacy acceptnace ... which is pretty unlikely
