The colours remind me of my ladybug picture.

Very nice.

As a rule of thumb, I've heard the best composition for macro shots is to keep your subject as the most dominant element within the picture. I think in this picture the stem on the left is more dominant, and is competing with the red of the ladybug. Also there is some dust on your sensor.

Other than that, I'm always blown away by the sharpness of your pictures. You definitely know how to pick your lenses.

Cheers,
~S

Thanks.

Agreed...I am a bit bothered by the out of focus leaf on the right side too. Yes, I need to get a proper sensor cleaning kit.

Yup, I try to get the best possible lenses. That pic was taken with my Minolta 50mm f3.5 macro. The only lens I am dissapointed with is my Tamron 70-210 f2.8. It's very soft on my 7D, but tack sharp on my film bodies. The lens does have very smooth bokeh though. My new Minolta 70-210 f4 is absolutely stunning in its sharpness...it was designed by Leica but uses Minolta coatings. We shall see how my new Leica 35mm f1.4 Summilux performs!

I usually use a blower I bought from Lens & Shutter, but since I didn't bring it with me on my trip, I've resorted to using Mike's method: the clone tool =P

I've cloned out the three dust particles out of my frames so many times, I could even do it with my eyes closed.
