So let me get this straight... for the first 5-20 seconds of a tcp connection they increase the rate limiter to approx 20mbit and then ramp down to the normal QoS from there? I might just have to give those bastards another $2.95/mo.
Speaking of internety devices for geekiest non-geek you'll ever meet... can anyone recommend a 4-8 port router with gig-e and maybe even a VPN that'll talk to OpenVPN on the other end, wireless would be nice too, but I can always hang a wifi bridge on it.

Well D-link has a gigabyte extreme N wireless router, but it doesn't have the VPN. Because it's considered a consumer product, I think you can find them on sale for like $120 or something.

Just get Xtreme-I for $10 more than High Speed and it comes with PowerBoost. The extra $10 paid each month for Xtreme is easily the best $10 spent the entire month. You also get 40GB more bandwidth!
