Hardest shit I've heard in a long time and he does it all with no cussing. Loving this dude right now. Everything I've heard from him is an absolute 10/10. Surprised he hasn't blown up yet but the fact that he is technically a Christian artist might have people second guessing. Even if you are not into the whole angry white rapper thing, his flow and word play are phenomenal.
I was at the Alderwood Daiso about a while ago where I heard this song being played there. It was one of those songs that piqued my interest. It stuck in my mind. I don't have perfect pitch, but have training in music, so I memorized the melody and wrote the notes down. I asked the workers there what the song was called. Nobody knew. I kept hearing "mugi" in the lyrics, which translated from Japanese to English is "barley." So I've been looking for hints and clues. I found out that this song was written for a Japanese mini drama (asa dora - morning drama) called Massa. It's about this Japanese dude who's life goal was to grow barley in Japan and distill a true Japanese based whiskey. He leaves his home behind and travels to Scotland to learn the secrets of Whiskey. While there, he meets this Scottish girl, brings her back to Japan, and marries her. They, especially her, go through some really tough times. Multiple failures and drawbacks. A lesson in perseverance.
I watched some of the asadora episodes. Probably dramatized to the hilt, but next time you have a lick of Suntory whiskey, here's where it all started. Some Scots probably wish they never helped this guy out. Japanese whiskey in competitions have beat out those made in Scotland. One of those, "Who's laughing now," stories.
