Just for you, here's a crappy Blackberry shot pix.

Your order is backwards!

And ALL watches are up for major discounts, from Audemars Piguet to Zenith.... if you're paying retail (or anything more than 70% of MRSP) you're getting ripped off.

anyone who wears an aquamaster/marc jacob watch should be shot.

(quartz movements for a watch that cost more then 100 dollars is a sin)

Not entirely true. You'd be very, very hard-pressed to find discounted Pateks. And there are almost no discounts on the hottest Panerais. Although, personally, I think Panerai is an overrated watch.

Whoops, I meant that list to be a question not a statement. I figure it would be cheapest in Asia but authenticity will be a concern. And if one were to acquire the timepiece from an AD, would they offer much discount?

Anyhoo, ventured into this thread on Paneristi.com...wow, RM's are pretty nutz. 3 Crazy Watches

I agree if it's the for some company, usually a fashion label, charging a ridiculous amount of money for a watch with a generic quartz movement. But disagree if it's a 'sin' to charge $100+ for a high end quartz. Let's use Citizen as an example.

The nicer Citizens are well above $100. Their 2100 movement is partially hand assembled due to its complexity. The Citizen model, sadly not available in North America, is around the $1000 mark. While many would gasp at the price for this subtle looking Citizen, it's one of the world's most accurate quartz movement at +/- 1s per year. It's so accurate that owners notices when the atomic clock adjusts for a leap second. Lastly, Citizen's Campanola line, well above the $1000 mark, are handmade and the attention to detail and artistic quality is absolutely incredible. If you hang out on WatchZone.com, there's a collector of Campanolas, and believe it or not, who prefers them over his PPs and APs.

I was just using an exxaggerated number, but the point was I see people wear marc jacobs watches all the time, or aquamasters with tons and tons of diamonds, and I could not see my self using a watch with a quartz movement for that much money (+4 grand)

Automatic > manual-winding >>Quartz. Agreed.

However, certain style of watches lend themselves to Quartz such as ultra-slim watches.

Which watch are you?

If you had to identify with the brand image of any particular watch, which would you be?

I think I would be a Breguet.

My daily beater is a Tag Heuer 1500

My fiance just bought me an Oris Artelier Complication yesterday for my Christmas present. BTW, there is a barcode sticker on the back of the mineral glass caseback, what's a safe way to remove it. Can I just use my fingernail, or will that scratch it?

Here's the watch I really wanted

As for overpriced quartz movements...I was looking at chronograph watches, and the Cartier 21 chronograph (quartz) series were over $4k...

Campanola's are awesome. Did you know the enamel on the dial is actually hand-applied by one man... he is the only man in the world still finishing dials in this way.... incredible.

I read an article about that guy on Watchzone in some watch magazine... and since then, I've been trying to locate a cool Campanola (albeit with no luck).

There are some nice looking Campanolas. Sadly, the Japanese do not know how to brand and market themselves like companies in the Swiss/German watch industry.

You should be able to use your fingernail. Chances are its synthetic sapphire so it's pretty hard to scratch. You can probably even take a razor blade to it if you want provided it IS synth sapphire. But a fingernail and zippo fluid to get rid of the gunk should be enough.

I don't know too much about watches...so I'm looking for some opinions and advice on this one:

http://www.citizenwatch.com/COC/Engl...ber=BJ7005-59E

What do you guys have to say?

Edit: This watch is also available in an "atomic" version. I don't get how a regular quartz vs an atomic can still have a plus/minus of 15secs a month? I'm totally new to this watch thing. Educate me, or just give me advice on the Nighthawk. (The face is mineral glass not saphire, WTF?!)
