20B 3 Rotor Rotary

Hm. I was thinking since 13B twin turbo has two rotor rotary, would it be true that since 20B has 3 rotor rotary, it can go TRIPLE Turbo? I read it somewhere but I'm not really sure if it's true.

Raid3n 03-04-2007 12:34 AM

....
it's not like each rotor has its own turbo....

they still utilize turbo's like a piston engine does...

Rikaro 03-04-2007 12:54 AM

why would it be triple turbo? the air that spools up is the same amount, unless you get a bigger turbo or another one

ashtaron14 03-04-2007 12:56 AM

There's still only one throttle body that controls the intake of the air, it's just directed differently

1990TSI 03-04-2007 01:04 AM

Since I've seen one in person I can tell you that it's possible to triple turbo a 20B

Raid3n 03-04-2007 01:12 AM

i'm not saying it's not possible...just not plausable...

there are 3 turbo production engines

13BT, 13BT-REW, 20B-REW

the BT is a single turbo
the REW's are twin sequential, the primary is a small turbo for low-end pickup.

1990TSI 03-04-2007 01:34 AM

The one I saw was 3 GT28RS turbos. Guess where!

Timpo 03-04-2007 02:55 AM

yeah, triple turbo is possible.

20B conversion from Axia Sport is triple turbo with 900hp @ low boost and well over 1,000hp @ high boost.

So using the original poster's logic. If a 13B is called the 13 month motor, then does the 20B last 20 months? :D

Well sorry, I'm not too familar with rotary engines that's why I wanted to ask a few questions. And my question was "would it be true that since 20B has 3 rotor rotary, it can go TRIPLE Turbo?"

KEYWORD: CAN

I'm not necessarily saying it is.

HedgeHog 03-04-2007 09:10 AM

It's possible but may not be practical...sure is purdy tho..

Raid3n 03-06-2007 11:35 PM

they banned rotary engines all together. =[ claiming a severe weight advantage.

4 rotors? a possible quad turbos?? But mehh, not really usable in everyday life.

Raid3n 03-08-2007 12:14 AM

iirc, the 757B was an NA peripheral port.
