i swear by james pearce t-shirts. the cheapest i've ever seen them is $69 (but generally over the $120 mark), and although i know in the grand scheme of things, $70 isnt very much, i'll tell you i get cruised a lot more than when i was 18, wearing the bullshit you apparently think is good enough to get the job done.

there's an age old addage "the clothes make the man". learn it. [/B]
James Pearce makes some great T-shirts...super nice and light.

Hahaha. Just the opposite. Most women want to date a guy who is sophisticated and knows how to dress well, rather than some guy with grease under his nails. You see, I can pull off looking good, without looking "faggy," or looking like I'm trying too hard. That's the key right there. It is also not cool to talk about your clothes, what brands you wear, etc, etc, but since this is the fashion forum, I'll make an exception. It also helps that I am a good body type - 5'11", 30 inch waist and broad chest, so clothes generally look good on me.

I'm in Munich right now for Oktoberfest, and tonight I'm wearing a thin grey YSL knit sweater (no labels), my favorite Valentino Jeans, a YSL leather belt with an oversize buckle (without any label), driving shoes (The Car Shoe Prada), and a Prada reversible sports coat (again, one discreet logo on the zipper). I look and feel great! And it's time to go drinking

I don't think you're supposed to take the quote literally, in the sense that the money you spend on your clothing equals who you are.

When you're in clothes that fit and look great, you feel great, regardless of the dollar value associated with your clothing.

Isn't this the basis of fashion itself? Doesn't everyone want to wear good-looking clothing?

It's a shame that people mistakingly interpret buying expensive clothing as being an upper-class elitist snob, or, as you so eloquently put it, a means of determining their worth based on the dollar value of their clothes.

*Sigh*

Now we all have our tastes and spending limits. You might consider a $120 shirt to be way too much, but it's not your money, and you won't be the one wearing it, so don't go around making assumptions that he's buying such expensive clothing to make up for his shortcomings.

It feels great to wear a nice light cashmere sweater, or walk around in handcrafted shoes made the traditional way. I just got a pair made by John Lobb, (www.johnlobb.com) and I have had so many compliments on them.

I didn't say that $120 is way too much to spend on a shirt. I have some expensive clothes myself. But I said it's pathetic that you think that clothes, or more specifically the money you spend on clothes, defines you as a person. At first I found it funny, but really it's quite sad.

You would be suprised how easy it is to generalize someone wearing this type of clothing.

Also D&G jeans just suck.

It's not D&G, it's Dolce&Gabanna. D&G is the lower-end line, like A/X is to Armani

How would you know? You can't find dolce&gabanna jeans in Vancouver. Plus its a seasonal item, their styles change every season.

Went to the actual dolce store in las vegas. I find the cuts unflattering and uncomferatble, and the washes are ugly, and personally overpriced.

Personally I like rocks, just because they can make you look a little slimmer, the washes are great and they are comferatble. Also William Rast (jt's brand) is pretty good. Chip and pepper are on the list too just because they are affordable, made in the USA in a non sweatshop environment and make your rear look pretty good

I'm with you on J.Lindeberg though. Awesome brand!

As I said, their styles change every season and the wash is different. I have a pair that is like Japanese denim in wash.

Lindeberg quality isn't great. They make most of their stuff in China. They're pretty decent in T-shirts, polo shirts or their tech material/ golf gear.

Seven Jeans are good too. But I've fallen in love with my Costume Nationale Jeans once again.
