Do you still have the warranty card? It should be written on there.

Anyone know any industrial locations where I can go shoot cars? I know there's a few places near river road but I'm not sure if I'm allowed in there.. Mainly looking for pipes, and cement pipes and abandoned warehouses

so, had some time to dabble with my new gizmo today. here's my setup:
the red arrows point to the turning screw, which you can either use one hand or two. it turns very smoothly even with one hand, which i tended to do while i fired away with my remote switch with the other.
first thing you will notice when stacking images? every piece of dust on your sensor will be highlighted! every speck becomes stacked in every image, and since you are moving the lens, the specks become lines, or streaks. let me show you my results when i was shooting a quarter while i was getting ready. this coin image consists of over 2 dozen shots, so every chunk of dirt is repeated 24 times(in essence becoming lines):
so, time for a cleaning i would say, which i quickly did. so, getting back to the first picture, of my setup.
i have as a subject a candle holder, folksy kind as you can see. in the next picture, you will see i focused on the front of the antennae, @ f/18. i could probably go f/22(maximum), but i've read that shooting through the smallest opening is not always the best, so i go for near maximum usually. if you look at the candle holder in the first picture, you'll see the antennae dangle quite a ways in front of the head(25mm), so even if i shot with the lens closed @ f/22, i really wouldn't get a lot more depth.
ok, now we're getting to the good stuff. i didn't want to stack all the way from the tips of the antennae all the way to the candle's wick as it would have been TONS of images stacked, so i just just turned the threads about a half turn(.5 mm) and started counting. 72 times! lol. this would take me approximately to the metal of the wax container, nearly 1 1/2 inches from where i started. loaded up the images into Zerene Stacker, and there you go:
as i said, the focus rail is quite smooth, easy to set up although it would be nicer if i could just clip my camera onto it with a quick release plate.
it has a feel of a well built device, not some cheap plastic products i was looking at. now, all that's left is to find some interesting subjects, which is getting more difficult these cooler days.

how much was that manfrotto focus rail? I want one, but don't know if I can justify spending the money on it....

Okay, so I'm an idiot and didn't read instructions with my cleaning kit and put the cleaning fluid directly on the lens instead of wetting the lens paper and using that to wipe. Any serious problems with what I just did? |

| I did that all the time, until i found out that i could potentially ruin the lens by getting the fluid inside somehow. |

is this a good budget panel to calibrate and edit with? will be grabbing a spyder3elite along with it. deciding between this or waiting for the ultrasharps to go on sale. NCIX has this @ $199 right now.

Also have a microfiber cloth just in case but I've only used it once when my baby cousin decided to sneeze on it when I was taking a picture of her

NCIX has this @ $199 right now. | It's decent enough for everyday use, but I'd say you don't need a Spyder3 Elite - save your money and go with the Spyder3 Express. I personally would not use this monitor for what I need it for, which is more serious photo editing.

i was looking at the elite because it can do multiple monitors ... i'm using two computer monitors 1 TV, and a macbook. it's not ultra important to have them all color corrected, but mind as well i thought. it's either this or the colormunki display

Lightroom has an update, but its an RC version, which means it won't automatically update. Adobe Labs
i see it includes the new Nikon 1(V1,J1), Powershot S100,Samsung NX5 cameras, and a lot of new lenses in there, including many for Phase One.
other issues fixed:
Lightroom 3.5 did not update the correct metadata fields in a file after adjusting the capture time of an image.
Publish Collections created prior to Lightroom 3.4 designed to publish to a Hard Drive could fail to work properly in Lightroom 3.5.
The Targeted Adjustment Tool provided the reverse value intended when used on OS X 10.7.
The incorrect Aspect Ratio was displayed when Crop settings were Copy/Pasted or applied via Previous button (Mac Only).
In rare situations, Lightroom 3.4 and 3.5 would not be able to read certain JPEG files properly.
Files with invalid date metadata could fail to import properly.
Editing a crop that had previously been copied from another file would fail to retain the copied aspect ratio.
