Had mine in burnaby and had this brown girl. She was good. We talked about how I got beat as a child. Good times. I passed.

should learn to park your car!

gars 12-05-2007 10:03 AM

i took my test in a 5-speed. make sure it's not some rice'd out car, or there might be predjudice before you start.

he commented a few times on the way i drive standard - as in, i shouldn't be in 5th gear while going 60 on 16th ave into ubc. and things like, i shouldn't shift up from 2nd to 3rd if i know there's a stop sign at the end of the block. but nothing major enough to actually make me fail my test.

if you're not comfortable driving stick, don't do the test with a manual car. i learned to drive in a 5 spd, so i was comfortable enough. don't turn the wheel when doing a left turn until you are ready to move. keep the car pointed straight. don't change lanes in the intersection. always keep both hands on the wheel if possible - unless you're doing hand over hand while turning. if you're driving stick, don't shift in an intersection, don't shift while in the middle of a turn (you'd rather go slowly and not rev up the engine, and shift at the end of the turn)

I think I'll take mine during rush hour to kill some time trying to merge

More or less exactly what I said I did :S

But if they KNOW it's going to be super busy... then they might not take you on that highway, they make take you, using smaller streets to like coquitlam, and make you enter and exit a highway there.

+1.. what was the general route for the test in Burnaby? I had my Novice test in Burnaby also, and I'm doing my Class 5 in Burnaby again...very soon. :-)

Don't forget your following distance. When you go on the highway, they expect something like 4 car lengths between you and the car in front of you.

Even in the city, leave around 2 seconds worth of distance betwee you and the car in front of you. Stopping, leave space, so that you can clearly see the rear of the tires of the car in front of you. Leaving space is important when going up hills too.

oh yeah quick question about class 5 guys since mine is booked for tmr!!!!

when u r merging into highway ( not #1 but more like fraser or lougheed highway ) do u have to automatically accelarate or should be doing about 50km/h until u see the new speed road sign???

you SHOULD see a sign on the entrance (say on lougheed) saying 60 or so when merging.

If you don't, keep it below. They can't really ding you as easily for going BELOW speed limit.

underscore 12-11-2007 05:12 PM

auto fail if youre more than 20 below.

onesound 12-11-2007 06:16 PM

did you even read my response?

they can't ding you "as EASILY"... i'm not even going to explain this one.

nns 12-12-2007 03:38 PM

When you're merging onto a highway, you need to match the speed of the traffic.

If you don't trust me, ask your tester before you start the test. They always give time in the beginning for you to ask questions.

Gachinto 12-13-2007 10:57 PM

^ Hate people who slow down when merging ... I've seen someone even stopped ! WTF ?

SpuGen 12-13-2007 11:05 PM

Couldn't take it today. I had tinted front windows, and everybody else was busy, or their cars are even more illegal.

Sat there for 5 hours on standby before they told me "Sorry, can't fit you in"

Went home, switched cars, went to superstore, and the fucking Axle snaps on me.

Fucked up day.

!Shuya80 12-14-2007 01:19 PM

^^ sry to hear that man. gl next time!

um yea wut nns said..when your merging you have to match the speed traffic is going...so say ur merging onto #1 and the cars are going ~80-90 you'll need to match it. they'll dock marks off if ur too slow. if the cars are going fast just look how long ur merging lane is and u'll be fine.
