what do you do if someones turning left ?...can you go around them if its on a 1 lane road ?...ive always wondered

I did.
Apparently you can if you're the second car (left turner being the first)
Third or 4th car, no.
You must shoulder check before doing so though.. even though you've been driving in the same lane and there's obviously no bikers.
Passed easily today.
Missed a shoulder check, and I got a ding for driving too slow on the highway. Even though I kept like 2/3 of a car length away from the guy in front of me.. in rush hour traffic.
Look out for school zones and KEEP 30.
30 in construction zones. If you see guys in safety vests, slow down to about 45. If they're working or have signs posted, go 30.
Shoulder check whenever you make a right turn. Every turn.
Shoulder check for Left turns, even going into a left turning lane.
Check your rear and side mirrors like you're supposed to every once in a while.
2 hands on the wheel at all times. Unless you're stopped. Don't ride the brakes.
Go 50-55.
Stay in the lane unless they tell you otherwise.
Oh.. and I drove my sister's Bf's Accord for the test. Creature comforts like heated seats keeps them busy and happy complimenting the car instead of checking your driving.
Make conversation but keep your eyes on the road (obviously) You'll both feel more comfortable and if you keep asking them about them, they'll be too busy talking to notice your driving.

I read this thread b4 i went out and I just came back from doing my roadtest in burnaby, got a guy named doug. He was pretty nice, b4 the test started he explained what i was going to do during the test and then he let me ask questions which i did so that i wasn't confused on somethings i.e difference between 3 point and 2 point turn cuz i know what htey are but i dunt know which one is which. he even showed me a diagram. Driving was like 30 min. went through 2 school zones, highway driving, took me through residential roads near hastings st. pretty scary cuz they were icy. and then busy streets. and then it was over. All in all pretty good test. Thanks to all the people who have posted tips on this thread, really came in handy

booking mines in the summer burnby location... need the routes for it ...and i need to start praticing to pp corolla
do you think this will work if i accel slowly since i have a slow acceleration car and im saving gas at the sametime

For the Class 5 there are only 5 driving routes and they only really use 3 of them.
I hired an instructor and just asked him to show me all the routes, went for one lesson and did all the routes in about 2 hours. Learned all the tricks since the instructor told me everything to look out for.
In the end passed easily.

best rule is to not drive like a pussy. they know that you know how to drive, and they know that you probably speed when you don't have an ICBC rep next to you (just as they dont drive home after work with their needle stuck on 50)
fist time i took mine, was in richmond and i failed. everything was fine, but there is this little bridge that has a 30 zone, one lane, but everyone goes 50. so instead of keeping up traffic i thought it would be ok to go with flow of traffic. wrong. auto fail.
next time i took it, after 5 minutes the ICBC rep said 'if you are going to drive like a beginner, il have to mark you like a beginner'
So I told him last exam i failed for keeping up flow of traffic, and that im driving very cautiosly because i dont want to fail again. lol at that point i got mad, so im like F this, im driving how i always drive.
i did 60, i did semi aggressive lane changes, and after he missed a turn, hes like' oh sorry i forgot to ask you to take a left on that street' i chose my own little path to bring me to where he first intended. lol he got kinda mad and said dont turn if i dont tell u.
anyways, i passed the second time. only bad thing i did was beat the yellow light and followed 2 cars turning left on a yellow (me being the 3rd car just to squeeze through).

How about... Stop being such a lame ass and getting these driving instructors to tell you what to look out for and which routes they take and just drive like you normally would?
If you drive properly and well, you will pass. Otherwise, you don't deserve your class 5.

y dont' u guys just drive normally?... and by normally i mean safely by the book...
i kno when i drive everyday, i do my shoulder checks and stuff... it pays off to remember all those rules u know... i kno even if you don't check and stuff sometimes and you get into an accident it's not your fault... but you still have to go through the trouble of claiming it and stuff.. which makes life just that tad bit more miserable...
i'd rather be accident free and move my head a bit more.. and drive safer...
when i did my class 7 or class 5... i nvr had any instructors... i nvr had any driving lessons at all.. i just followed the rules and drive normally.. and to this date... i still drive the same way... there are no tricks or shortcuts to driving.. it's all just pure experience and practice ...
