Went to Pho Thai Hoa again on Capstan Way (in the same mall as Richmond Sushi). Haven't been there for a over a year and their broth is still awesome. I would come here if looking for Pho in Richmond.

Can't remember the name of the pho but it is menu item #18 at Pho Hoa.
It's just basically pho and chicken meat. Is someone able to recommend another place other than Pho Hoa that has this type of pho? I've ate some chicken pho but it was just lemongrass chicken placed into the pho. Prefer the clean cooked/boiled style. Thanks

^ Pho Ga?

Uh on 33rd and victoria is a really traditional vietnamese restaurant who gives a fair amount of chicken compare to their house special lol, theres also one on kingsway and gladstone, first restarurant right beside canadian tire, and kingsway and sidney, both superb in pho ga and other specialties.

Question for you Vietnamese folks:

I noticed that Kim Phung and places like Pho Quyen serves a darker soup as opposed to most places which use a clear broth. Does the soup/broth indicate a regional style of Vietnamese cooking or is it simply how they cook?

regional style. North = darker, south = lighter.

When I was on my no carb diet I always went viet places and ordered their chicken and rice dishes, but sub the rice for more veggies. Really tasty.

Made that first bowl of pho taste so much better after a month

Took the advice at tried out Kim Phuong and was not disappointed at all. Their broth was amazing, so tasty but not in a msg way, their noodles were al dente and not mush, their meats were thinly sliced but well proportioned.

Only downside was that the place was a bit messy, had lettuce in the front door and floors, don't know if it's a ritual or something(saw 2 piles of salt in front of Kimura Im guessing for new years).

It's more on Victoria and 42nd if you're looking, will go back for sure, darn near drank their broth lol

Try out Hai Phong on Kingsway, just a couple of blocks west of Knight St.
