I honestly mostly find the most enjoyment watching these types of movies now a days. Movies like you say which are fairly simple and provide any of comedy, action, tension, whatever it is in the right spots. Nothing more nothing less, satisfied.

I never liked the original Dune movie, but I was a kid then, so been meaning to watch this new one, family members loved the original

I got about 10mins in and was like zzz

Did not find it interesting at all.
I thought this was a cool spinoff/prequel idea, had hoped there would be zombies in it (but wasn't necessary if..)

Overall the movie was pretty good, if you ignore the fact that they completely dropped the ball when it came to cracking safes! would've been nice if they made the safe cracking a lil more intricate, or if not, at least throw zombies into it

DUNE 9/10 - Loved it. I didn't like the first one as a kid but I can see the cult following for it. The new one hits good with look and feel. Yea, a bit slow and boring but its more like a stylish fantasy/sci-fi rather than a pure action movie. I can't wait for Part 2.

PIG -Nicholas Cage, highly rated movie. Had no idea going in but with such high ratings, I thought I'll go in blind.

It's an actual artsy fartsy movie. I thought it was john wick but it totally takes a wrong 10 point asian driver turn.
I do have to say, there were 2 or 3 scenes worthy of good acting but the flow, pace, and story telling was not done well. It was the writer / director debut; pacing is still wrong.

It's one of those movies which you should just skip.

^Totally agree.

Had no idea why that stupid movie was getting recommendations online. I love artsy/slow movies, but this one was garbage, pointless and stupid story. Cage's character was completely unrelatable.

Master and Commander

10/10

Probably the 4th or 5th time I've watched it... One of my all time favourites

Check it out if you haven't! It's a masterpiece.

They don't make movies like this anymore

We Couldn't Become Adults. Released today on Netflix.

A little conflicted on this one. A little-indie vibe-ish but not overly so. Won't win any oscars or become any kind of cult-hit anytime soon.

It really captured the bittersweet fragility and complexity of your youthful years, and how those bags can really come to affect us in our future selves as we are a product of our past...

Pacing was a little off and maybe a bit slow, and the regressing time-line was a little jarring at first especially if one is used to the more tried-and-tested forward moving timeline of Taiwanese movies that speak to similar themes of first loves and growing up.

Can tell parts of it was filmed in Pandimic and it doesn't hide it like other productions. Think it actually helped capture some of the intended ambiance better.

I recommend this one. Brings out some of the feels (for me atleast) but doesn't punch you in the gut like K-dramas try to do and remove you from reality completely.

If watching, DO NOT WATCH IT ENGLISH DUBBED. For some reason or other, the dubs are done extremely poorly, like they're just layered on top and separate from what happening on screen.

What's the last movie you saw and rate it...

Finch: 9/10

-good movie about the post-apocalyptic world starring Tom Hanks. As usual, Hanks does a good acting job. A movie that is serious but also has some surprisingly humorous parts to it.

-good job of cinematography for this film.

Red Notice - 8/10

It's Ryan Reynolds, The Rock and Gal Gadot so obviously a pretty casual movie, good for some laughs and the plot is pretty unpredictable which I like. I can't stand Gal Gadot but I know a lot of people do, I found the other two made her tolerable in this at least.

Spoiler!

Dune, 8.5/10 for me

Outside of Dune 2 for like the 386 PC game I only vaguely knew the story and went in blind. That is a top tier, top production movie by all means. Very entertaining and could have sat in the theatre watching more

One recommendation would be to watch it in a higher quality theatre. We went with a friend from my wife’s office and she had already watched it once somewhere else and she said in the theatre she was in the first time around some of the dialogue was hard to hear and even in the imax at Scotia bank some of it I still had a hard time hearing

Those Dbox seats were pretty sweet for it as well!

No Time to Die - 6/10

It was a good film, but average. I can't put my finger on it, I found the movie simply mediocre, going through the motions. One that won't be remembered in a year from now, which is sad, given this is Daniel Craig's last Bond film.

Shang Chi 7/10

One of the more enjoyable "serious" Marvel movies. As usual the extended action scenes made my eyes glaze over and had me looking at the clock, but the actual tiny bit of kung fu was cool. Tony Leung was really good

felt like a complete mock of indiana jones, unless you're a fan of these actors, it was just something you've seen already with comedy thrown in.

No Time to Die 6/10

intro was action packed, but it spent most of its time trying to tell you a whole story more over the adventure..i always thought 007 was based on high tech gadgets & action..lot of people didn't like the villain because he didn't have very much emotion or depth as being "bad & evil" as someone you hated.. it was just a few simple lines with walking and thats it...nothing really provoking.

stage & scene design for past 007 films were entertaining as hell... the fighting, escapes.

Yeah red notice was a meh type movie.

I did like the fast pace style which no one really would walk away, but character development suffered.
How Ryan and the Rock just jived so shrotly was a bit too fast.

It's still a mockery type movie but could've been so much better. Ryan is still just ryan and will always be ryan so i've already gotten used to it.

ghostbusters: afterlife - 7/10.

if you ever watched "Stranger Things" you get the same energy with the younger actors, hell one person from that series is in this film.

i think if you were reading into whose in this film you notice the OG actors are in credits so no surprise there, jokes are adult related so its good they didn't fully try make this a Disney film. one or two jump scares.

the ending is what made this film okay without any spoilers who shows up.

I had a great time with this. I never thought it was going to be enjoyable.

Ridley Scott always does good, Ridley Scott, Matt Damon + Ben Affleck did screen play.
I had no idea going in esp I cant' even remember the last medival movie i watched.
I couldn't even recognize Ben Affleck in the first few scenes and he did really well.
Matt Damon was the lead and or once it wasn't Jason B so I was happy.

Never liked Adam Driver esp he was only in Star wars, but he got me.

Lastly, the screenplay was great, how they changed up the story telling made it much more enjoyable and had you trying to figure out the movie.

King Richard 9/10 - Will Smith did an excellent job, as did all the other actors. A great watch all around.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage 4/10 - I didn't like the first one very much and this one was worse. Completely forgettable. I can't get into Tom Hardy's sketchy character; it's more annoying than entertaining. Maybe some cool effects but even those were half cheesy. A background watch at best.

I agree.

I think Knig Richard was great. I didn't think it needed to be 2.5 hrs long, as it got a bit long at the end and made Will look like a bad dad, but all in all, great story. The credits pics made it real as it was so much on point.

Venom.. falk.. i wished I didnt' watch it but my friend did both of the CGI for 1 and 2 so i watched for his sake.

Spiderman: Far From Home.

8/10.

.lot of fan service for those who already seen the credit list of actors, action seems darker vs past spider man films, few jokes here and there, clever things happening.

Nice tie in to Venom vs Spiderman.
Spoiler!

yeah he's still at that beach there

And you know who shows up From Dr. Strange Spells
Spoiler!
