我談的那場戀愛
Love lies - about a 50 yr old lady (fertility doctor) who went online dating and then BAM, got tricked by a young man on a million of dollars. Obviously the guy was cheating girls, but the old lady was also posting as a 20 yr old nurse.
You know the entire premise of the movie - it's too obviously not to know; overall the story flowed very well and it's a lie between a lie. Pretty crazy watching how it plays out and seeing how this 'love story' ends.
Acting was superb and how it was a strong story with really solid cast. Go enjoy a easy love story.

HOLY MOLY, what a great movie. Zach Cregger wrote, directed and also produced this film. He's a really new director so it was really weird to see how this would play out. I read up on this movie and heard a lot of review so I was eager to see how this plays out.
He's most also producer for Companion that was Jan 31 this year but it also got great reviews.
So I'm sure you have heard about this in previews - 17 kids wake up at 2:17 AM and walks out of the house and disappears. Now, we know it's a bit of a horror / mystery but how it shines was how it tells the story.
It follows 5 individuals and only a good 15 mins on their story line yet it all lines up together. VERY very cool story telling yet in each you get a snip and all lines up to the next story. Done very well where it wasn't overly boring. I felt like I was watching MOmento (Christopher Nolan 1st movie, entire movie (2000) - guy pierce has memory problem and you get 15 mins of his memory each time rewinding back.
It's a very good mystery movie until it hits the 1/2 mark which goes a bit into horror. Don't want spoilers, just beware it's a horror so you won't be enjoying it with you wife if you're not into Conjuring movies. There are a bit of gore despite it was only 3 mins but something for sure my wife won't watch this.
What a great ride, enjoy to the very last bit of this on what the ending was.
38M with a 220M+ returns.. that's crazy. They had a crazy bidding war and boy did they win on this!

Nobody 2
Really forgot what the 1st one was like, I just remember he was a normal dad and was previously an assassin. This one held up. Shut off brain and just rode along. The script was actually not bad, just a dad being caught in a tough situation. Characters were casted well. Sharon Stone is old but pulled off a decent character. Reminded me of Charlize Theron in Fast and Furious. Still think Charlize did a much better job. Sharon was just a mad dark woman who didn't really have a chance to build her background.
Christopher Lloyd was really weird as he was casted as a dad. Then there was Rza both were realyl not needed. Chris was just so weird cause I think he had sunglasses the whole time and in a way his back to the future look just becomes hard to cast over. Who I thought was a great cast was Colin Hanks / he did a solid job on making it work as a sheriff that had an agenda.

Friendship
I thinks someone here watched it and it was a hard watch. Written and directed Andrew DeYoung and it just didn't work. The premise was interesting and worked initially but it took a weird term (given it's a black comedy). Tim Robinson was a great cast, you can be in his shoes as a weird husband, and a sort of a boss and has a weird quirk.
Paul R was just normal bromance character.
It had great start, just a bit side tracked with a few unique consequences giving zero interest to the audience. His wife has a weird dynamic, his son / step son has a weird character whom really didn't matter.
Boring, flat, despite I see what the director wanted to do with 'alternate' dream of sort, just didn't pan well with a significant uplifting story.
I woudl pass this unless you're a fan of a weird black comedy that goes no where.

So many things going on beside the movie.
Ronald has been raving about this movie cause he's the actor and director. Personal life wise, he's been going thru a divorce due to him cheating on his wife with his manager.
Not a good time to promote a movie about Atonement for sure.
Movie was filmed in thailand about redemption and lost of child. I have to say Ronald and the female lead (Chrissie Chau) did act their heart out esp Chrissie (who used to be just a model (before onlyfan days LOL). She's still been trying to land an iconic memorable role.
There were a lot of action kungfu, fighting inside a jail which was wth and didn't really give tribute on how Ronald's character came out. Then there was filming style which had so many slo mo. There was an action jail sequence with a 1 shot take (eg// 1917 which was a bit memorable).
The movie did have 2 things, the atonement story Ronald and daughter learns at a temple sets the audience on the moral of story. THen at the end, I guess it's a "twist" was memorable which I didn't see coming.
Yes there was 1 easter egg but was just stupid and worthless.
I would watch it again for the 'minor twist' but too bad the flow of the movie made it a pain to rewatch.

Gosh, please make these end.
Film is set in the 1960s of a retro-futuristic world and at the end, they did show the old classics which I thought was pretty cool. I do give them that. True to old school from all type of design. I'm still blown away for a 200 M movie and right now at 520M, so of all Fantastic 4, this one performed well.
I didn't know Ebon Moss-Bachrach played The Thing - he was the "rock" and I didn't recognize his voice until later - he's most famous for The Bear being the big brother.
I particularly did not like the cast at all. Totally bias esp when Jessica Alba played a role so long ago. There were a bit more humor on that one.
1994 - well i was too young to know this was in theatres.
2005 - Jessica Alba and Chris Evans did a decent job
2007 - Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer also had gone blonde w/ Jessica Alba which was sort of better
2015 - Miles Teller and Michael and heck, even Kate Mara was in it but tanked at 9%
Simple script, lack of tension yet what held me into the movie was the setting being in '1960'. FOund it really dull esp with the chemistry being super weak and the casting wasn't as ideal for me.
We do all know it will all tie in Dec Avengers so we'll see.

Last Song for You
I'm glad ekin ain't doing any more of the young and the restless movies. This was a decent cast for him using him as a music producer. Why is it a young puppy love teen 'saving' a lost producer. So pedo.
Music producer... gosh.. can you at least try to tune your guitar first? Ekin still doesn't know how to act but what can you do LOL. He has to act as if he was really into music at the end of the song... must be difficult for him to act.
Now this film has a bit of a weird ending. It's casted well, script was legit and story line works. There comes a time when the last part of the movie where a bit of weird turn.
You have to follow the characters correctly as there's some 'time travel' which totally threw me off. WTH. LOL How does a normal romance movie suddenly takes a weird turn. that's the only beef I got with this.
Because this was 梁禮彥's first director and script writing debut i'll give him some slack.
Just surprised he even got funding to finish the film.

a friend invited me to watch demon slayer movie in theatres, i didn't even know there was one out.
if you're a fan of the series it continues on with the story arc in the infinity castle, and thought it was good overall and enjoyed it. only problem was staying awake as it was well past my old ass' bedtime lol
got home after 1am

Together.
huge controversy below and so many fun facts.
Premise - Couple moves into a small town, fell into a well and then their body changes. It takes a weird horror pivot and it was really successful.
Casting was great and Dave Franco did well as a deadbeat / useless composer. His gf, Alison Brie i thought was spot on. I didn't know her in Glow or Community so it was refreshing seeing her act. SHe was on earlyh movie with John Sena's movie called Freelance.. a bit of a crap movie, but this one she did solid acting I thought.
Filming was good, the horror part was also nicely done. Ending was a good fit and kept you guessing what's going on.
****for the interesting part.
I did not know Alison and Dave are actual real couple in person... lol
Why did this movie hit my radar? It was released in China earlier this month, but then STOPPED. Turns out, China went and put the movie in AI and adjusted the film. So the movie studio pulled the movie out due to an insult blow to the director.
HOLY F is right.. does the scene make a difference at all, not at all but its so controversial I wanted to see what it was all about.
They cropped out a guy guy wedding to a guy girl marriage.

One Battle After Another - 8/10
Really good film, same director as There Will Be Blood (one of my favorites).
This film is interesting, the first hour seems like a heist film, then it turns into something completely different the rest of the film, constantly ramping up. The movie keeps you on your toes, very engaging. Some parts are a little corny, but I don't want to spoil the film for anyone.
Worth a watch for sure, DiCaprio rarely disappoints.
You'd definitely like it Skinny.

^ I was told the car chase scene was epic.
Not because there were explosion, not because there were 12 flips in the air michael Bay BS stunts but just car chase with elevation and good cut scenes made it very exciting
Will watch this tomorrow.

^This EXACTLY.
The director did a fantastic job filming that chase and really drilling down the rolling almost roller-coaster like conditions on those desert highways, from a perspective standpoint, it was really uniquely done aesthetically.

Kinda niche, but if you're Filipino or interested in history you might want to catch this at VIFF. I think there's another showing next Sunday Oct 12th. It's the Philippines submission for Best Picture in a Foreign Language
Anyways, it's a real "artsy" flick. Documents Magellan's final journey to the Philippines and it's subsequent conversion and colonization. It's in Portuguese, Spanish, and Tagalog with subtitles. I didn't mind it too much but a lot of people are not going to like it. Every shot is framed like a painting and is a meditative exercise rather than a coherent plot. It moves along so slow that at 2h40m you should probably read up on what Magellan did otherwise you'll be lost. If you ever watched Silence with Adam Driver, it's kind of like that.
Umm other than that there's a ton of nudity and I had no idea 16th century tribal woman had such well groomed bushes.

Play dirty
Marky mark heist movie. Let's just say it had it moments. I mean it ain't no Italian Job worthy but hey, I can't complain for a Sat / Sunday no brainer movie.
The cast was a bit weird and didn't jive at all. This is what happens when you you have tier 3 actors / actresses.
Wife and I had a great time watching the heist but other than that, it was filled with some car chases and action that was quick paced yet still empty.
I don't know why LaKeith Stanfield was casted, he's famous but I guess I recognize his work best at Judas and the Black Messiah? I guess he was the token woke cast. Then we got Rosa Salazar who was the pretty girl and the dynamic story was really weird.
Keegan-Michael Key was casted and it was just weird cause I cannot not see him in a comedy skit.
You would think the director who did iron man 3 would be a good movie. This had a good potential as it was part of a book series (The Parker).
Enjoy the heist part and then shut off your brain.

The Lychee Road
Truly an impressive and amazing movie. From acting, pacing, casting, to visuals to story... wow. Da Peng / 大鹏 is 43 years old and already a well known china actor, and this time he did the role of director as well. He did win by best actor in 2023 (china movie - Dust to Dust).
Story is about an impossible task. Deliver fresh lychees from Lingnan to Chang'an for Yang Guifei's birthday, roughly 2,000 km away. It's an impossible task esp it's 712 BC or AD i dont' know what era. So what happens is some official assigns it to a very strict / by the book accountant who never fit in esp during the era / time when everyone was sort of corrupt.
Wont' ruin the movie for you; it's just extremely touching as he found out he was cheated to do this task. One of his famous like "even if this is an impossible task, i still want to see if thru and see how far we go"
It touches on so so many levels. From husband and wife dynamic who is wife looks down the husband, to work place bullying and not fitting in, to building some true friendship then turn being blind sided to work fame due to promotions; then pivoting to seeing some luck in progress as well as in life.
Even to the ending of the movie, it wraps up extremely nice because it still stayed true to the core of a great script. What's once a character of a loving husband to an honorable civil accountant / servant, it wrapped up well when it just didn't have to - that's what made it special.
There were 2 unique casts of Hong Kong actor, one was Andy Lau and he's still atypical Andy Lau but Terrance Lau who played a slave was decent enough to make an impact in the movie. It's usually the other way around when people cast 1 / 2 mainland actresses for no reason just to fund a movie but this was the other away around for a solid role.
Truly worth watching again even if it's a 2 hr movie.
