I have had Bell for over 1 years and i tell everyone to get Shaw. Last year mydish was down for about 50 hours. That 50 hours only included the time i was home and not asleep.

The biggest problem i have with bell is there interactive channels. Sometimes when your switching channels you will get stuck at a black screen and have to wait 20 seconds for it to load then hit recall you go to the last channel. You can set up a custom channel list but there always adding or moving channels around. Another problem with Bell is if the problem can't be fixed over the phone you have to call a satellite repair person @ 50 bux a hour.

There hardware also sucks.

On a positive note there customer service has gotten a lot better. Before the customer service representatives were bilingual or at least calmed to be. You would get some person with a thick french accent that could barley speak English. Now i think they have gone to India and they are way more friendlier, can speak English and have never hung up on me.

I've had Shaw for a couple of years now and haven't had any problems. I even got the movie channels for a while without paying for it...lol. I'm thinking of switching to Novus to see how it is though.

I work for Shaw. I even had Shaw before I started working here. Also, if you own your Bell equipment, I can get you the PVRs for free. Simply, we'll just swap. Get the PVRs now, before they go up..

I am a Shaw user for the fact that it was WAY easier to set up than Bell, there is no contract required and I am no longer a victim of rain fade.
Where are you at? I don't have problems with Rain Fade.

Can anybody else deny/confirm this? I'm kinda in the same boat...not sure which provider to go with for HD
shaw is aware of that problem and are trying to resolve it

Well if anyone is still watching this thread or thinking about getting digital or HD TV..

I searched the net about Shaw and Bell and did some number crunching...
Tried to call Bell but they are closed sunday.. but shaw was open..

So they have the digital HD package for 67.99 or something.. asked if they had any promotions.
The lady had mentioned that after Jan 31 all the boxes are going up in price. Beyond that there wasn't really anything fantastic.

Anyone reading this will laugh...
So I just have basic cable its 32.00 +tx... yippy
The lady said that you can add digital TV for 1.99 ? serious?
Then upgrade that to HD TV for 9.00... for a total of 10.99

So normally a 67.99 package will cost me 32+10.99 (42.99)

Anyone else seen this before ?

Yeah, that's the cost. I upgraded to HD a couple of years ago and that's what I ended up getting.

not exactly..

basic (2-28 + random higher channels) = $32.95

if you buy a digital terminal ($98 self install or $118 if you get a technician to install it), it'll be $32.95 + $1.99 (26 digital channels)
if you rent the digital terminal itself, then it will be $32.95 + $2.95

to be able to watch hd tv, you'll need to purchase a hd terminal which can vary between $298-$498 since it's on sale before february 1st, 2009
so it'll equal out to $32.95 (basic) + $1.99 (digital + 11 hd basic channels) + $9 (another 13 hd channels = hd plus)

that hd digital package that you mention is classic cable (2-58 + random higher channels) + hd basic/plus + digital channels
