I keep seeing explosion but not bomb so I guess the owner went in & either spread some gas then waited too long to light it soo the fumes exploded rather then just catching fire or maybe he left the gas for the oven/stove turned on & thought he could just toss something on fire in the front door once it filled with gas. I'm sure it was just supposed to be a fire but someone made a mistake. lol in the hospital with 40% burns.

Next time stick a cigarette in a pack of matches dumb ass then at least you'll get a few minutes head start before kaboom.

If it wasnt planned why wouldnt they relocate somewhere else instead they will reopen in 2-3 months. Which makes them have 1 million to spend to repair the store and probably keeep the rest from the insurance company they got back. The owner recently bought the new 07 M3 Coupe
Really? How do you know? The M3 isn't even out yet and the pricing just got released less then a week ago...also it should be a 2008 M3, M3's weren't made in 2007.

I don't know who did it. I'm just thinking motive I shouldn't jump to conclusions but who else would blow up a taco del mar. I'm sure restaurant fires are often not simle accidents consider the failure rate of a new restaurants. Fire is an easy way out of a bad financial investment get the money to rebuild but instead close. I bet the building insurer will repair the building seperate of the coverage the restaurant carries meaning the location will be returned to leasable condition then the (taco del mar) owner would have tried to claim the loss of his investment+revenue loss through his own insurer.

Who know's it could have been a former employee or even someone who was angry because he missed taco tuesday.

Update:
The wife of the owner of Taco Del Mar left a note and commited suicide. The note stated she couldn't handle the suspicion cast on the family after the arson.

The guy with 40% burns is still too injured to speak.

Now the owner will have to take out a hit on that guy so he doesn't talk!

Police already KNOW this was a deliberately set fire, and not an accident.

Yeah, except if the insurer has even an inkling that the owner was involved in or behind the arson, the claim will be denied outright. Charges will be certainly be laid, and claims and/or lawsuits will be made against the arsonist(s) and anyone else involved by the insurers of the building, and of the other stores affected.

Burning down a poorly-performing business to collect the insurance looks like a good idea in the movies, but in real life it will almost never work and nine times out of ten will land you in FAR FAR deeper shit than just cutting your losses.

Possible, but unlikely.

Man the fact that she commited suicide makes it so much more suspicious

I also found it wierd that the day after it happened they felt the need to go on the news and clear there names

Update:

I was reading the Metro, and they mentioned that CTV reported (unconfirmed) the arson suspect, still in the hospital, is the nephew of the owner.

A man accused of blowing up a Vancouver restaurant last year could walk free, unless the Crown gets a hold of missing expert evidence.
Kamaljeet Singh Josan was accused of two counts of arson relating to the explosion at a Taco del Mar in February 2008. But on Tuesday, the crown was forced to put the breaks on the trial because of missing evidence - evidence it says is critical to the case going forward. Crown Spokesperson Neil Mckenzie will only say the missing evidence is needed to confirm "several aspects of the case". But even if the evidence does appear, there is still no guarantee it will allow the trial to resume.
The government has one year to come up with the evidence or the case will be thrown out.
