RICHMOND (NEWS1130) - If a public meeting on May 20th has no objections, the Richmond Night Market will go on as planned on the 30th.

Richmond City Council approved the plan Monday evening but it still has to go through a public hearing.

First time market organizer Paul Cheung says he can sign up more vendors as a result. “At the moment we have 100 vendors secured; we have many other vendors that will sign up with us because they were waiting to see if we were going to proceed into the public hearing.”

The market will be on the original site on Vulcan Way behind Home Depot.

Less vendors, they only have 100 secured. Raymond had 400+ last year.

Same location (which target said was too high price for lease)

The new guys are trying to imposter the old ones... which is the whole reason i'm against it. As much as I'm just the consumer, Raymond's the one who set this whole thing up. It's pretty ironic tho, a fake night market to sell fake stuffs?

This one will suck anyways, if what they said on radio was right, about this new guy wanting to PAY cops to show up and check for fake stuff -.- I just wanted my LV wallet :D jkjkjkjk

None the less... If this is good, we may fight for 2 night markets in summer 09'.

Raymond said he was going to look for 30 acres+, when the viking way one is only 10... I dunno where they have that kinda space in Richmond...

With the construction going on now a days, apartment buildings popping up left and right I honestly don't know where to find 30 acres in any of the major cities.

Either way I don't really give a shit who does the market as long as there is one that is big in size. The Chinatown one is just hurting. I mainly go for the food and to check things out anyways. So as long as the food vendors are there I'm there.

It's because the food is quick, cheap and all in one place presumably. A lot of people didn't know where to find takoyaki, other than night market and aberdeen LOL...
