+1 for Ark, great service and skill. I used to go to Chura but the long waiting list is just too much, like 2weeks to a month if you call in for an appointment? Jeeeez... The service you get there is average also.

its pretty cheap tho, my cut was 34 and they did an excellent job
all the stylists their are japanese, so thats where i would go if you want a japanese style cut

mugen282 04-22-2008 06:15 PM

hmm. i'm tempted to go to chura but the 2 week min waitlist is stupid.
any other places that hot japanese girls work at?

bcedhk 04-23-2008 12:20 AM

i hate ark cause their washing station, the neck bar is not padded at all, and it hurts like a bitch when you get your head washed.

but they do have good service.. parking is a bitch though

i go to 3G down at Central Square, between aberdeen and parker. Decent price $22 for cut + wash, $14 just for cut.

And... of course chinatown.. cant go wrong with 8 dollars

PS. do you guys pay tips for cuts nowadays? Seem soo white-wash/westerner

Are they able to speak english well enough to converse with them?

I usually go to Misako but if Ark is good im willing to try them out, plus they're cheaper :lol

my stylist didnt speak much english at all, i think its much easier to bring a picture of the haircut u like and just show it to them

however i am unable to style my hair like my stylist did after my cut

kaitamasaki 04-27-2008 10:45 PM

sum-up: zeal, chura, otic, misako, ark, bluehairdesign, 3G

only tried 3G so far, it was alright
going to have to try all those one by one.

theres many hair salons in richmond but not many people seem to be mentioning them..hmm. there are none worth mentioning for me because i always seem to be dissastisfied with my cut... lol.

LC21 04-28-2008 10:34 AM

^
same, i went to those lame hair salons on victoria, they all messed up my hair bad... i paid the same price i paid at 3G too... =(

fuhkyu 04-28-2008 12:20 PM

I've gone to chura and misako, i was thinking of trying the one above konbinya on robson st. but i haven't gone there yet. Maybe i'll try out ark soon as i need a haircut pretty badly

Moratorium 04-28-2008 03:34 PM

Umm my stylist spoke sorta broken english but we could still communicate pretty clearly. Really depends who you get, a good percentage of the stylists at Ark speak decent english though imo.

Btw does chura throw in the massages? I never got one there unless you meant when they're washing/drying your hair. Ark actually throws in like a short massage for you.

Anyone know any more good places in Richmond but outside of Aberdeen?

fuhkyu 05-01-2008 09:25 PM

There's an airhair salon on #3 and Saba road, I went to the dt location. They cut my hair very well but I don't want to venture all the way to richmond for a hair cut.

Nintensity 05-23-2008 11:35 AM

Sorry for being off topic, but...

Who can you recommend as a good hair-stylist at Chura at the Downtown location? I'm looking for a good haircutter lady / man who's willing to asain-fy my hair a bit.

kaienna 05-23-2008 10:13 PM

goto local barbershop for 8 bucks like a man, son.
