I DID spend 8 bucks, but that was when my hair was short, and that previous barber cut it the same way every single time. Its a freaking chinese place that doesnt even understand a flying fuck of what i'm trying to tell her... so i gave up. Pardon my french.

She doesn't know how to deal with longer, asian hair, so i'll try a different place. You guys suggested Chura, but is there a particular person I should get?

Supposingly Chura's good and it's relatively cheap. like 25 bucks. they're japanese hairstylists.

but also heard good things about Misako and Ark. both also japanese hairstylists.

quick question for you guys that have been to Chura or Misako.....the prices that are listed on the website for haircuts, does that include washing your hair too? Or is that extra?
Thanks

Levitron 07-01-2008 10:15 AM

Im telling you, try my friend Tim in Kits. I referred a bunch of RS guys and they love it and even bring their friends in. Tim continues to upgrade himself by going to competitions and style schools to improve. Tell him I sent you for a better deal!

KO7 07-02-2008 09:25 PM

I've wanted to try a Korean place, but never knew of any good ones. Do non-Koreans go to Blue? I can speak a bit of Korean if that helps.

Fobman 07-02-2008 10:07 PM

You can walk in but if they're all booked up then they won't be able to cut your hair or they'll make you come back at xx time. So it's better to book an appointment.

Ya around $40. I think it's regularly $45 but $40 is what he charges for people that I refer.

He will wash and style for whatever you want. It's a very nice salon, not the chinese honger types but those kits area type.

Fobman 07-03-2008 02:07 PM

just got hair cut from 3G and it was prob my worst hair cut so far...
the dude so fob can't understand shit and won't listen to whatever hair i wanted
stupid fuck made my hair all honger now lol

djm 07-04-2008 11:38 AM

back from "blue hair design", worst cut in ~3 years..fucking terrible. will update later

If you must get it done in Burnaby save yourself from a bad haircut and at least go to MISAKO

Had this hair cut done before so I know what it should look like. Picked a short style out of a book and it when I was done looked NOTHING LIKE IT AT ALL. The style book is in Japanese and place is Korean so of course they cannot read it.

The cut was 90% razor/buzzer 10% scissor, as opposed to 100% scissor and touchups with razor/buzzer at Japanese places.

This means no texture/layering or “lightness”, they use the same technique done at places on Victoria drive & Kingsway. Did not even do angle cuts/squiggly scissors to thin out the hair.

The hair in the back at the base of your head was also cut off, when these cuts are supposed to leave it, and it was in the picture as well.

They did not offer me to read magazines or at least have some put out in front like they do at places like CHURA

The bib they put in front of you is way to short and you will get hair on your shoes/pants. When they took off the bib they did not attempt to prevent hair did not get on your shoes/pants like they do at Japanese places.

They did not even bring up a mirror at the end to show me my hair from the side & back

There is 1 person who cuts and 1 person who stands/hovers to the side and watches you as the person cuts your hair.. very uncomforting

also as opposed to wash -> cut -> rinse/wash -> touchup (if necessary) -> style at JP places
it is cut -> wash -> style

paid $20 for a $6 cut they managed to mess up
I WILL NEVER GO BACK THE ONLY GOOD POINT IS MY HAIR WILL GROW BACK

My fav. place is called Connection 2000 Salon in Richmond, around 5 + Cambie. If you go, get Michael, and only Michael to cut your hair.
