I went to Shota Sushi & Grill in Kerrisdale earlier tonight. I won't get into major details but man, I'm going to give this place a 2/10. The rolls were sloppy (worse than Sushi Garden!) and they even managed to screw up on chicken teriyaki. Come on. How is that even possible? Service was sub par. Save yourself the trip and do not go to Shota. Worst sushi in Kerrisdale!

Leela Thai in White Rock.

One of the better Thai restaurants I have been to in Metro Van, run by a Thai family.

Had the green curry, yellow curry and pad thai. Curry's were excellent, but could have been a bit spicier, maybe they toned it down because I was white haha. They didn't skimp on the prawns or chicken in the curries either. Pad Thai wasn't a gloppy mess, proper amount of tamarind used.

For dessert we had the deep fried banana with coconut ice cream. Ice cream tasted like it was made in-house (which is a good thing).

Excellent service as well. 9/10

Fatburger + cheese
~$7.50

6/10

it tastes better than McD burgers, but it's too pricey for its quality.

dunno. just not worth it IMO.

however, the service was awesome.

Went to Gu on Thurlow for lunch with a friend. He had the pork cutlet curry and I had the yakitori rice bowl.

I ordered a drink with my meal, came to be around $8, his curry plate was huuuge and came to $8. Not bad, left full, happy and under $20.

I found the curry dish had too much sauce and it drenched the rice and made it too saucy and salty. But my dish was awesome, it had grilled onions and peppers, and perfectly grilled chicken that was still juicy and crispy on the front. My meal came with a miso soup (a bit salty but it tasted like real miso, no weird aftertaste) his came with a side salad.

I personally prefer this location from their Gastown one, seems a bit more traditional. Like the ambiance of the Gastown one...okay just because you don't leave smelling like BBQ

Oh right, 8/10

A friend told me to give Samurai Sushi a try, since I haven't been there for a long time and always said how crappy it was.

I don't know whether to rate this thing a 2/10 or a 6/10.

On one had you get massive portions for the money. On the other, you get sushi thats made well in advance just sitting there on the counter, and the insides still smells like 'fishy'ness. The Salmon couldn't taste much worse, compared to any other decent place.
Probably won't be back for a lonng time.

Quality >>> Quantity, at least when it comes to sushi for me. Oh, another pet peeve of mine is the bit of Salmon Skin still stuck on. Definitely don't dig that.
