I think that's a Celica.

asian_XL 05-30-2008 12:09 AM

hk has the highest millionaire : population ratio in asia.
but China has more millionaires than HK, that's for sure.

who cares if your city has more exotic cars than the rest of the world. Look at dubai,
ferrari there is like civic, when they are everywhere, it's not exotic anymore.

There have been quite a few car exporters who specializes in exporting to China popping up in Oregeon/California area. With USD so low, it is a viable business.

I don't think you can legally export vehicles from the U.S. to PRC due to restrictions in the Mainland on imports of vehicles.

I wonder if the HK exotic cars are kept on the Mainland side because they're LHD and restricted with the T plate use to how much time they can spend in HK.

Hondaracer 05-30-2008 12:40 AM

that TT is awsome, im even feelin the back end alot!

You/family has a MC12? :drool

Thanks for the pix! Hmm weird thing is that the Mustang doesn't have China plate, is it right-hand drive? How did it even get there lol. That engine displacement would cost quite a bit... both in registration fee and in gas haha.

hk20000 05-30-2008 12:56 AM

yeah the Mustang is an import from UK so it's RHD....

there are 3 in HK I think.... one is a regular V8 stang and the other 2 are GT500s.

threezero 05-30-2008 01:03 AM

i really don't see the point of driving nice exotic cars in china. PPl who can afford these cars 90% of them live in the city which means major congestion everywhere u go and the HORRIBLE HORRIBLE ROADS omg.......

China has strict import laws. So in that way, Hong Kong has more freedom and as a result more JDM cars than China. But when it comes to European expensive cars, Hong Kong stands no chance.

I wonder if I will ever see C6 Z06 with the 7L smallblock on this side of the world...

asian_XL 05-30-2008 03:07 AM

^ yup, there's a couple in HK...one black, one red

hk20000 05-30-2008 03:39 AM

don't think you'll see a Z06 but when I was blasting down Sek O this other day after rewatching initial D live action movie on TV I saw a C4 'vette

I immediately slowed down to a crawl so I can have a better glimpse of it. :willnill:

The import issue here is that while you can import brand new cars on your own you cannot import anything that's not Euro IV certified which means SOME supercars are out of the question.

Also anything before 2002....BUT you are allowed to import anything over 20 years old much like Canada allowing anything over 15 years old.....so there are fresh off the boat AE86 AW11 240Z rolling around...And they smarten up to have the engine swapped IN JAPAN before driving them in HK....so like 20V AE86 perfectly legal and stuff......

it's supposed to be a trendy thing to drive an old car now. So I drive one too.....j/k I just can't afford anything better.
