How can you sell a plate. Isnt it gov property, like icbc wouldn't let us do that would they?

it's like selling a house, you don't own the land, the crown does, but you can still sell it.

TBH, I'd just get custom plates... Register uranus and you got UR ANUS... Register ownurs and you get OWN UR S... Register BIGSHO and you get BIG S HO... all that for just 5k HKD and pretty much no one would bid it with you.

the plate can't be transfer, but a company can ;)

Saw tons of beautiful cars in the Times Square underground carpark. Also saw a GT-R in the IFC lot. Cars in HK are crazy!

Anyway no don't be stupid you can trade plates, once the plate is assigned to you it's yours. Any individual can trade plates don't be ridiculous. It's just a matter of paperworks to transfer plate numbers around. A new random number is assigned to you from the transportation department, and then you can transfer that to another person too.

the only thing is, if you decide to not own a car and own the number ONLY, then you need to find another car (or trade the number to another individual) in 365 days to set that number up onto the vehicle, or you lose the number entirely.

That has an outstanding vehicle inspection notice and it's therefore for sale at a lot at 50,000cdn. T04E turbo 400HP specs....
