I was recently invited to tag along in a Lotus Seven S4 to a classic car event. The HK police were hosting a safe driving event and invited the HK Classic Car Club to attend with ~10 Cars, below are some pictures and introductions of the vehicles http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9502.jpg Lotus Super Seven S4 This car is currently owned by one of my relatives who owns a garage specializing in restoring classic vehicles. The Lotus weighs under 1000kg, has no doors, no rear glass, no electronic nannies, and no roof. It does have a 4 speed manual transmission, and 98 horsepower out of a 1600cc engine of two carburetors. Today's Caterhams are modernized versions of the Super Seven S3 chassis. I can post with further impressions from riding in the vehicle for two ~50 minute stints if requested. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9505.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9508.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9514.jpg Side pipe exhaust - Although wrapped, can burn if vehicle is exited carelessly http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9515.jpg Aluminum double wishbone front suspension :fullofwin: , ... and a live rear axle :okay: I've also ridden in a BR-Z, and to those who are complaining about the lack of power in the FT86 twins need to get a ride in a Lotus Seven. The car only has 98 horsepower but is an absolute hoot to ride in. There is absolutely zero body roll, you can wring the vehicle out on public roads while maintaining a zero percent chance of receiving a speeding ticket, and sometimes has an exhaust pop upon downshifting :fullofwin: Ford Model A http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9529.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9531.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9532.jpg Jaguar E-Type For those who don't know the history of the E-Type, consider it the GT-R today [performance wise] with the class of a British vehicle. First vehicle to have all round disc brakes, and ~260 horsepower in the 60's is similar to the Bugatti Veyron's horsepower today. This example has a V12 engine, and true quad exhaust *cough Lexus IS-F cough* http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9595.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9596.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9597.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9598.jpg :ahwow: Austin Healey Sprite http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9603.jpg Vintage Rolls Royce http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9625.jpg Mercedes 190SL no, this doesn't have gullwing doors, the 300SL does http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla...t/IMG_9637.jpg HongKongPolice "Tactical" Zombie Invasion Prevention Truck :seriously: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla.../IMG_10000.jpg Crowd upon departure & Tunnel Photo http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla.../IMG_11000.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18285008/Cla.../IMG_11003.jpg |
^Caterhams are awesome! I've been on one monthly cruise with CCCHK before but my dad's car isn't exactly a classic car. A 2006 production Morgan 4/4 I finally got to drive since I got my licence permitted in HK http://sphotos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...09580103_n.jpg BRICKS WERE SHAT A friend took this recent pic, excuse the instagram lol http://sphotos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...51566449_n.jpg Drives just like a new car, quick along with the vintage feel. Way too cool! |
How's the insurance for the car? Our underwriters get a lot of classic car quotation, but none of the insurers in HK wish to quote these cars |
