Guys, need some help. I just bought an iphone (locked to rogers) and when I was registering it on itunes for the first time, I accidently updated to version 2.2.1. Now I want to unlock it, but it seems that there is no software unlock for 2.2.1 only 2.2? Is this true? Anyone got hookups to unlock version 2.2.1 with all features working? I saw someone on craiglist say they can unlock 2.2.1 but there is no airplane mode??

you need data to wifi for live streaming right?

If you have data plan you can stream normally, but if you dont then you need to find a place that has wifi to connect and stream.

i just picked up a used iphone 3g but it's been reset.

What's the best way to activate + unlock? I have no idea what firmware is on here and don't have a valid SIM. Should I use ZiPhone? That seems to be the most straightforward way.

I also see QuickPwn and yellowsnow but don't know if that's the way to do it or not in my case.

Edit: OK, nvm. I'm on 2.1, so no ZiPhone. It looks like I need to upgrade to 2.2 before doing anything.

2.2.1 is the newest firmware. Alot of people have stayed on 2.2 as the 2.2.1 update only really fixes issues with safari (internet browser) and for most of us who have jailbroken iphones its too much of a hassle to re jailbreak over a minor update.

Since the latest Palringo Instant messanger update on the iPhone, when I load the program it changes my nickname to just my email. Thus, everytime I log back onto my MSN account on a PC/MAC my nickname is my email, and I gotta change it back everytime.

Does anyone else have this problem? Can anyone offer me solutions to this problem?

Okay so i just unlocked my iphone 3g, and i need a little help. So i don't have a data plan, i'm just planning to use the school and my home wifi. Is there any way to turn off the data plan so i don't get charged accidently by rogers?

Jailbreak your phone and download a program called "Boss Prefs". within this program, there is a toggle switch that will disconnect your phone from trying to access the edge network.

You need to get that boss prefs app though. I had fido turn off my edge (I use iPhone 2G), but one random month I still racked up $200 worth of data. I installed boss prefs the next day :P

I have 1 more question, this might sound stupid. If i turn off edge, does 3g still work when im on wifi?

customer service for all cell phone is 611. You're not on 3g when you're on wifi. Only time you'll be on 3g is if no wifi is around but since you dont have data then u should turn off 3g as well.

best way to disable data on your phone is to point ur iPhone safari browser to http://unlockit.co.nz then use it to install a blank APN.

So i just got boss prefs, turned off 3g and edge and also called called rogers to disable data, not sure what that lady did but she said it was disabled. Hopefully i don't get screwed over by roger again haha.

Hey guys, I have a few questions about how to copy contacts from my iPhone to my sim. Are there any apps available through Cydia or Installer (whichever is more popular with jailbreakers now, I haven't done it for a while) that would let me copy my contacts to my sim? And when iTunes backs up contacts and everything to your computer, where does it all go?

yeah you have to jailbreak it first though. I believe you can jailbreak up to 2.2.1 right now, which the current firmware.

yep 2.2.1 is now jailbreakable

jailbreak does NOT mean unlock. If you upgrade to 2.2.1 then you are fucked for now and cannot unlock, even with yellowsn0w. 2.2 baseband is the only one that can be unlocked by yellowsn0w right now.

not sure about you but i updated, jailbroke, and unlocked just fine. it says version 2.2(5g77) is that the latest?
