Why people get smartphones without a data plan is beyond me. Just get a normal phone then you posers.

If anyone is bored of their iPhone and looking to build a new PC, I am looking to trade my Core i7 CPU and 3GB of ram for an iPhone 3G

I have wifi at home and at work. I have no need for 3g data. I own the phone because I like it. No need to hate.

I think the point people are trying to make is that smartphones are meant to provide connectivity in situations on the go when you're commuting, out for the night, etc. Most people already have PC's or laptops available at home or at work that are better suited to internet use at those locations.

I do have wifi set up on my iPhone at home, but also have a 3G data plan because I like being connected where ever I am.

Carrying an iphone throughout the day is far more convenient than carrying a normal phone plus an ipod touch.

Yes exactly. As well the PIM and application support, interface, texting is much better with something like an iphone/smartphone. Iphone's sole purpose isn't just internet and neither are smartphones. It's just one of the other functions.

Also note if it happens a second time there will be no discount on the overage. If you have an iPhone without a data plan it is highly recommended that you call in to customer service and have your data usage disabled.

THANK YOU for posting this. When I initially called them, they refused to do anything because he believed for some reason that I did not have a fido iphone or any proof that it was a fido iphone, and they only deal with fido iphones. So he sent me to a store to prove it was a fido phone, I gave it to the guy at the store and said it is not unlocked and theres a fido sim card in it, bought locally and theres no rogers branding on the back, he looked at it and hes like, I still cant confirm its a fido phone, and you jailbroke it so what you mean its not unlocked, (as far as I know jailbreaking and unlocking are two different things), correct me if im wrong. HOLY F*CK i was so angry at this point. So then I ask him if he can please just call the CSR because he told me to come down here, he calls the CSR, a different csr tells him that they can check on their computers whether or not its fido, and it served no purpose for me to go into an actual fido location. So NOW they believe that its actually a fido phone...2 hours later. So I call their customer service line again, the initial guy I talked to said he would flag me incase I called again, probably because I was pissed off so they gave me some very calm/ well spoken woman, who debated with me for a while about the data. eventually she caved in and said, all I can give you is 70$ credit, I said no, I want 300$ credited back. Then instantly she says, ok I'll give you 50% of your total bill but thats it. IF i hadnt had known that there was a chance of 50% off, I probably would have stopped at the 70$ credit out of frustration.
Total adventure : 3 hours
/end rant

I was playing around with one of these phones and it seemed pretty cool, but I was just wondering is it true there is no MMS? Why would they not put in such a feature on a phone like this if thats true, seems very odd.

It seems like a lot of people who had an iphone switched to a blackberry, why is this?

my 16G has a stress crack between the volume up and the silence button. i never dropped the phone or has it gotten impact by anything hard. anyone know if apple will warrenty that?

Psykopathik 04-05-2009 09:02 PM

call em up and ask. hard to see why a case would suddenly crack, however people have reported its because of shoddy/cheap craftsmanship (thin plastics)

Hondaracer 04-07-2009 09:18 AM

Hey guys so there is a little dust behind my screen, I work in a very dusty environent(construction) but it only got dust behind the screen cause I dropped it I think, it's in a case and is still in mint condition

I can get a brand new one due to the dust right? Who do I call about it and should I return it to non-JB status before I bring it in?

RFlush 04-07-2009 10:29 AM

Call Apple Warranty or go to the Apple store to book an appointment. Just restore to original settings (pre JB) before you return it. There have been cases of JB phones not being accepted by warranty.

Psykopathik 04-08-2009 08:32 AM

the dust uner the screen is under warranty. its supposed to be airtight.

i got mine replaced. they sent me a new unit ang I had to mail mine back.

just mail the phone in the box they provide. ONLY the phone. keep everything else.

like the others saild restore the phone to non JB status first. (not Jail-Bait)

make sure you send yours promptly (within 30 Days) or they will charge you for another phone

It's pretty popular for people to light pieces of shit on fire.

You might want to do the same (iPhone bricked or not).
