Thanks guys for the help, I am going to try to modify lifting the best I can.

I just bought some unscented lubriderm and went to buy aquaphor but the pharmacy told me it has to be ordered in and actually suggested preparation H for tattoos as it does the same thing but will bring down swelling and itchiness...

Because of my work environment I guess it's best to have it covered in plastic wrap then.

I was thinking of wearing a compression sleeve to protect it but now I'm wondering about leaving it exposed (while I'm not working) google has so many different answers on this topic lol

I definitely do not think it is a good idea to wear a compression sleeve as you will be suffocating the wound. I've never heard of anyone using preparation H for a tattoo.. You can get aquaphor over the counter at london drugs. Its not even at the pharmacy, its in the lotion isle. I would go with what the artists tells you as they are more knowledgeable about tattoos than a pharmacist is, but if you want to have the ointments ready beforehand then I strongly recommend aquaphor. It works great.

Once again, agreed with the situation. I would completely follow what the artist says, but if you really are not able to find any aquaphor I have about half a tube I can give you lol.

You could probably keep it in the wrap your artist originally puts on it for your whole shift depending how long it is. I've had sessions where I get home a little late and just slept with the bandage/dressing on and then just took a hot shower in the morning.

And like the other members here have mentioned, aquaphor is the way to go but probably not until the tattoo has "dried off" on its own.

My appointment with Tristen at chronic ink is next week. Very excited, waited a long time to finally start my arm sleeve.

Not looking forward to wearing long sleeve everyday at work from now on though lol

Wearing long sleeve in front of my parent is no problem not like I see them everyday. Wearing long sleeve to physically intensive job now that I have to get use to lol.

Can't believe your parents don't know yet, but your sleeve is pretty gangster I wouldn't be surprise if they call the gang unit on you lol

ah you get used to it. I go biking in long sleeves a lot to stop my tattoo from getting scratched up by branches. It gets pretty hot but i just drink lots of water and I feel fine. I go a little nuts trying to keep it pristine.

Just watch me pick a long sleeved wedding dress. They'll never find out LOL

Damn I thought you would only have to hide it working a corporate job.

I don't want to make anyone feel bad... but you guys are adults. Come on!

This is borderline abusive behaviour

I think it's more of a culture problem than an age problem. Many Asian parents are disapproving of tattoos

"because culture" is literally the worst excuse you could possibly come up with for anything

Why bother hiding it? It's not like you can get rid of it

you really don't understand... its not "an excuse" its actually because of culture/disapproval in general.

most asian parents are "against" tattoos. if you still lived with your parents and had a sleeve tattoo... you would probably have to hide it until you moved out

Sounds lame really to people not in the culture. And I agree it's lame that parents still have so much control over their adult children

But it's a culture thing honestly. Like western family that force kids to be independently, kicking them out sometimes when they turn 18 or making them pay rent when staying at home. Tell that to traditional Asian parents and they would tell you that is bad parenting.

Anyways I don't hide my existing tattoos from my parents anymore. They kind of came to terms with my tattoo but ask me to not to my arm. Will have to cover up the sleeve for a while when visiting a parent lol, I don't like to hide things from my parents too but I try to put it off as much as possible not because I'm afraid to get yell at == instead of blaming me for an obvious life decision that I made they tend to blame themselves for failing at parenthood.

But parents will come around eventually
