hey guys i have a quick question before i get an e71
for garmin or any other gps does it require data or does it lock onto a satellite without it?

Works fine w/o data.

Got the phone today pretty excited to use it. What should I do first with it should I update my firmware and hack it or whatever? So far I'm loving the phone. It beats my W580i any day haha.

how do i find out what firmware i'm currently on?

is there a setting on the phone to turn off data? i know i can turn off 3G and use EDGE but is there a way to stop data? just wondering because i dont want to be using data when i'm roaming.. i know i can just call fido to block the data on my acc, but i rather just do it on the phone cuz its much easier.

What, data? Go to Home>>Tools>>Sett. wizard>>Operator. That'll auto-detect the settings, read'em off your SIM.

hey guys I've had the e71 for a couple months now, I have data and i have set up my gmail account on it. Whenever I get a new email the notification will would pop up on the home screen. Recently it has stopped doing that, any ways of getting it back? I've checked through the modes-> home screen applications ->enabled applications way and the correct box was checked. Thanks!

update the firmware to 200.21.118 today and finally youtube mobile works correctly.

yap. mine is NAM I bought around Oct last year.

It never work properly with mobile youtube. It will open the Real Player and then disconnect say something like "file not found!" or "can not play".

Now it will open real player and then play except the video quality is poor.

all u gota do is change product code thru NSS to the european version.

then use NSU to update it

and then change the product code back

Yeah, but issue is, that firmware really isn't meant for NAM machines. One would think that there's a reason that they have separate versions of the same series of firmwares.

no need. it's available for NAM version. I used to do NSU and then change it back. But this time I waited and it's available for all E71.
