That I totally agree with. Saying that the HD PVRs are totally worth it even if you have to pay full retail.

Last few times I talked to them for regular reasons I mentioned getting a PVR and was told they can only give me the regular price. Even got my girl to call in other day saying she is moving out to a new address (which we are) and she wants to start a new account with a free or discounted PVR. No go.

Yesterday I sent in the dogs. I went right away to cancellation department and told the person I got a new TV, am switching addresses and telus offered me a good deal. Went through a minute of telus bashing, and I said 'thats fine, I just really want a PVR'.

Put me on hold, came back with the retention plan.

HD PVR free for 6 months, option to buy for $340ish after 6 months.

I didnt try and haggle for channels/credits cause all i wanted was the PVR. I got her to throw in 30 days of Super Channel.

Just be nice when you call in. I think you gotta be serious about cancelling. Don't just threaten to leave after the rep told you they won't give you a discounted PVR. Do it from the get go.
