I'm actually thinking of doing co-op...if I want to co-op in RIM, do I need to be in a specific faculty to work there? or I could be in whatever faculty I want?

No specific faculty, however, RIM mostly hires electronics/computer engineers or computer scientists (R&D departments) and students from business/arts/communication (corporate departments)

The reason I'm asking it because I'm majoring in Econ right now, and planning to do co-op soon, just wanted to see if RIM has anything relevant to Econ that I could do....

RacingMetro92 06-24-2010 01:57 PM

Anyone have any idea how fast courses fill up? I feel like im getting shafted with a 24 hour wait (I just talked to someone with an enrollment date a day before me) and some of the courses I want only have 60 seats. If I dont get those courses, I am kinda boned and my schedule I want gets chucked into the trash. These courses are at surrey and are both arts based courses.

if its those courses are not too popular/ courses known to be gpa boosters you should be fine. if you're first year it might be a bit risky though

RacingMetro92 06-24-2010 05:23 PM

I dont think any of my courses are that popular, its just the lack of seats.

No, I dont feel special, I just dont wanna get caught having to stay longer in university than I have to, even though its supposed to be better than high school. I'm taking out a huge student loan cause my parents are cheap and arent giving me a dime.

Strzelec 06-24-2010 09:37 PM

Anyone have their reg date?
Mines July 27. Im assuming im gonna get totally shafted since im second year.

-lincolnboi- 06-24-2010 09:39 PM

21st, i remember second year, pretty bad enrollment dates haha

RacingMetro92 06-24-2010 09:41 PM

You probably are getting shafted. Mines July 13. Its the scholarship kids who get first crack on the 12th. First year get priority.

Right, because everyone HAS a right to post-secondary education such that your parents MUST/SHOULD/COMPLETELY support your ass through post-secondary school.

Woah, Woah, I'm not here to argue anything man. Did I SAY I HAD a right to post-secondary? Hell no. But if that's your opinion then by all means, you have the right to express it.

I'm not here looking for a fight man, I'm just in this thread asking for help and networking at SFU, not being flamed for a comment that had no intention of being argued about.

^Don't worry about him. He's used to being lonely and being gay with himself. Let him be.

Well if he is Asian, then the parents should completely support his ass through post-secondary school. But of course he must get a 4.33 GPA with a double major, one of them being in business with concentrating in finance and accounting, and graduating by the age of 21 so he can apply for his masters and become a doctor.

Alphamale 06-25-2010 09:11 PM
