Haven't taken 102 yet.

Yeah. Piece of cake if you actually do the readings and show some genuine interest in the course. Shit also comes from the slides and he gives those out too.

Newton isn't the greatest prof, because he assumes we're all idiots and/or fob (I was one of 4 non Chinese people in that class), but his class is easy.

ASC 102 is also a cakewalk. Just read, study lecture slides, and youre golden. I took that class in the summer when tetris battle came out...bad idea- got a C+ when I could have aced it if I just paid more attention.

The 300 one I'm referring to this semester is taught by Naoko Kato.

I'm not sure if I want to take 102 (Newton) + 300 (Kato), or 102 + 202 both with Newton.

RacingMetro92 07-17-2014 08:45 PM

Haven't taken a class with Koto, but just by reading the syllabus, it's a lot harder than what I went through.

Newton is really dry but his classes are pretty basic if you can write and analyze. It's up to you, but I took 201 and 102 with him and found them to be easy (I'm also a history major so the classes were so meh that I only put in effort when I needed.) So it's a tough call, but if you want to jack your GPA up then I'd say do it.

Crim 101 and 104 with Cartwright is LEGIT GPA booster.

Enrollment at 9am tomorrow..lol all the profs I wanted are gone.. I guess das it mane.

Guess I'm gonna take either Kevin Stuart or Christian Venhuizen for 360..

Franciso for 320

Sir_Loin 07-17-2014 10:39 PM

^ Take whichever course has no FINAL. I've taken 2 distance ed courses both were POL in the summer time, no final but that means higher % of the grade goes towards the midterm and online discussions (posting on a forum) which are easy enough. As well as essays or assignments you submit online.

Lol ya 8:30 for me too. Pretty much every prof or course I wanted are full.

You're not going to take a chance with the wait list for 360 lol?

kunoman1 07-17-2014 10:50 PM

Take Kin 143. I took it last summer online and it was pretty easy.

Buffon - I decided to take it with Christian, just not sure which day (wed, thurs, fri)

Kunonman - Starting 4th year but I'm 1 year behind (After 360, 320, and 381 I will be finished all 3rd levels)

Is ASC102 a GPA booster?

buffon 07-17-2014 10:56 PM

Ya I really have to take 360. I keep putting it off because I was waiting for a decent prof but it looks like that won't happen. 38 people in the wait list for Eric's class... lol

4th year but still have to finish some 300 level courses.

Are you taking 360 with Kevin?

Ooh okay, I'm starting 3rd year and am a bit behind

Yea was going to take the 360 with Kevin D200

xXSupa 07-18-2014 02:15 AM

I'm likely going to take 360 with Christian on Wednesdays in Surrey. Cant be assed waiting on the wait list. Lets fill that class with RS members so we can help each other out? Class isn't curved LOL

@Kuno: D100, Karen Ruckman on Tuesdays.

Also taking BUS 343 on Thursday at 5:30. Finishes at 8:20. Just in time for Thursday Night Meets :)

buffon 07-18-2014 07:00 AM

I know that they usually add more spots than the original 30 for 360 so I'm gonna try getting in 360 with Robin. Surrey is way too far for me lol. Although, I'm not even sure if Elliott is better/easier than Kevin. No reviews for him.

I'm taking 343 too but the one on Friday :(

I guess you can enroll in a class that's open and wait list yourself for the same class with a different prof/time. Just did that for 360 lol. Hopefully it works.

Don't they charge you drop penalties for doing that?

Also yea Surrey is way too far for my liking (for class anyway)

I'm in E103. Wait listed and got in a couple of hours ago. Lots of people move around, so I suggest you waitlist one of the earlier three if you don't want a gap.

asuri 07-19-2014 06:39 AM

Hi, does anyone have past midterm exams for ECON 103, professor is specifically NEBILE BARKIN or aka GULRIZ BARKIN? Really need it, willing to pay twenty bucks for one.

kunoman1 07-19-2014 10:02 AM

How do I waitlist a tutorial if I'm already in one

fs604 07-19-2014 08:31 PM

i dont believe u can.

aliuu 07-22-2014 10:29 AM

anyone have experience with ayaka iwase for cmns262 or donald gutstein for cmns261 distance?

177 07-22-2014 11:06 AM

Classes:
bus 251 elizabeth macdonald
bus 272 zorona svedic
bus 232 andrew flostrand
hist 101 john harter

for the people who have taken these classes with the same prof, do I need to get the textbook for the class? only asking as most profs I've had did not use the textbook even though they said it was required, they used their own notes, just don't want to spend extra money if not needed.

I took 251 with macdonald, I would recommend the book as you need it for tutorials. That and I learned a hell of a lot more from the book than in lecture. 272 I used the book alot (different prof though), 232 (also a different prof) hardly used the book

took hist 101 with harter. he makes you buy two textbooks, i would buy the readings textbook cause it's used for the papers and the tutorial, while the other textbook are things you could just wiki.

fs604 07-22-2014 04:22 PM

272 with zorana u need the textbook for the quizzes. there is also a pdf of the older edition that u can find anywhere online. this is useful for ctrl f-ing the quiz questions, although some of them u will not be able to find (wording discrepency between editions).

I took it with her last sem and got an A. Even though quizzes are open book and u can ctrl f some questions, i found that it was quite difficult to get perfect every time. For midterm and final, all u have to do is memorize the vocab list that she provides. And pray that u get a decent group for the presentation.

ilvtofu 07-23-2014 11:33 AM

so... who's taking Crim 251 right now, saw your RS bookmark on your laptop during tutorial

Anyone taken crim courses with James Brown? can't find him on rate my prof or even SFU website, I'm just going to assume he's the godfather of soul
