Im a big Oblivion and fallout fan and just got FO3. Better than I expected, it really makes you feel you are in the game.

I love the turn-based, matrix style combat system especially i suck at aiming with contoller. It is all over again for me planning out skill points, perks, attribute points just like the good old days. I already started over twice when i get further, you would get out match if you didnt plan out your points carefully, the AI is pretty hard even at normal difficulty.

I actually don't like Bioshock all that much. Maybe it's a combo of eerie setting and my weapons just don't seem sufficient enough. I think I just don't like the weapons actually. Didn't seem like a run & gun type of game so it didn't catch on to me.

I think I'm gonna pass on Fallout3, unless I can get a playable demo. I'm not gonna gamble on it, at least not until prices drop. As for FarCry2, I'm still thinking about it. Seems like a more boring (have to drive a vehicle around more than shoot) version of Crysis, from what information I have collected so far.

how do i speed up download speeds with utorrent? fuck i'm only getting like 6kb/s....

I finally finished dl'ing it from "Steam" last night, installed and runs perfectly.
For some reason... I got the Russian copy but theres an "update" for it called Fallout3-Trivium.

Just extract the Trivium files into the install directory and run the "fallout.crack.patch.exe" or whatever its called (its close to that) and then run the game.

Follow these instructions they worked perfectly for me.

-----------------------------------------------
Quote:1. Download any Fallout 3 (Russian/english) 2. Open up 'RUN' 3. Type in: cmd and enter it 4. Type in/Run: [dvd]:\setup /lang=en (replace [dvd] with the drive letter of where the fallout 3 image is mounted on) 5. Wait for everything to install (End will take 10-20 minutes. So don't try closing it out in the thought of it being frozen. Note: This doesn't ALWAYS happen) 6. Download Trivium crack ( http://NO DUMP SITES/files/158258102/FALLOUT3CRACK-TRiViUM.rar ) 7. Extract it 8. Copy it all into Fallout 3's installation folder 9. Run the crack file to install it 10. Go into Data folder (within the fallout 3 installation folder) 11. Select RUSSIAN.esp and rename it to english.esp 12. Run it and enjoy
-------------------------------------------

Oh and BTW, "steam" seems to be running slowly/inconsistently, the seeders are about 1/20th of the leechers so its slow going. Using Vuze I got to a constant down of about 40k-80k tho.

It's called "encumbered", the higher your strength the heavier you can carry. I started over twice already and now I have only 1 STR but 10 on Perception and agilty. I would recommend people put more points in luck it is very important, i now have only 6 on luck but still getting tons of critical hits, cant imagine if you have 10 on luck.

lockpick, medical, science, and explosive are important as well, the wasteland is like a minefield, and you can unarm mines for use, xp or for money.

I just made my first custom weapon which is the shiskabab. Basicly is a faming sword made of motorcycle and oven parts. the thing is quite powerfull and very well designed by the fallout team lol

Dell Hell, havent you heard of it?

Hondaracer 11-01-2008 09:20 PM

so i bought it, played it for about 4 hours so far

it's pretty good and it looks amazing, but it's funny.. i always complain about RPG's not being "open-ended" enough, but this Oblivion style of questing doesnt really real me in.. things just seem so scattered and u use up alot of your resources doing one quest, and have nothing left for another

been exploring quite a bit, made it all the way out to the capital building but i didnt grab a checkpoint anywhere near it then fell off an overpass :(

for those who were fans of the original, how does this new one stack up?

The ones made by Interplay is 10x better compared to Fallout 3. Bathesda just doesn't have the same dark humour and wit that Interplay would incorporate into their games.

I have to agree. This game has the atmosphere and it is fun. Once you really get into it there's a ton of stuff to do and collect, makes you really feel like you're part of the post apoc wasteland, but it just doesn't have the awesome fallout1 or 2 feel or much humor involved. The closest thing in this game was the guy who killed himself cuz he thought he was going crazy hearing kids voices. Aside from that this game is all serious no humor. Oh and don't finish the game.. the ending is so disappointing. 200 endings my ass.. started so strong great gameplay awesome journey to the end.. and total letdown of an ending.

ienhz 11-02-2008 12:30 AM

I'm downloading Fallout 1 (free and legally!) right now.

hal0g0dv2 11-02-2008 06:13 PM

i find myself with no health all the time it sucks
have lots of ammo

turbomelon 11-02-2008 06:54 PM

lol go sleep in an empty bed. There's one in afreyu.

Presto 11-03-2008 07:56 AM

I love FO3. I do miss the humor that was present in the previous versions, but having everything in 3d is kinda cool. I started off with an hour or 2 of killing all the townspeople in Megaton. That Jericho guy is tougher than the rest, but he has no good loot.

opposite for me.. .hard to find enough ammo to kill all the mutants i come across.
health isnt so bad.. just eat all the radiated crap and take rad-x whenever you find it, also after you kill small camps of mutants or raiders, sleep in their beds till your health is full

quasi 11-03-2008 09:07 AM

I took that perk that lets you find more ammo and ever since I have way more then enough. The combat shotgun it pretty awesome at close range for slaughtering mutants, head and face shots FTW.

I really like this game although I haven't had a ton of time to play it.
