Or are you saying you can just afford $100K, but not $130K in which case I have some serious questions about how you manage your money.

I'm sure the ZR1 will give you a lot of "smiles" for that measly extra $30K. :)

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Are you retarded?

if u have not read the starting and some of the 2nd page, the guy said that he can only afford 100k car, wtf a measly 30k?????????

I read the whole thread.

This reminds me of guys who get their first job, realize they make enough money to just afford a 3 Series and then proceed to go into debt and spend all their disposable income on a car.

Sure they look cool since they drive a "BMW", but when it comes time to fix the car or keep it maintained they find they can no longer afford it.

If you make enough money to be able to get a $100K car then you can just as easily get a $130K or $150K car. Unless you barely make enough to buy a $100K car, in which case my original comment about your financial planning still stands.

DC5-S 12-19-2008 12:23 PM

maybe he doesn't wanna spend that much? 30k is quite a bit of pocket change dude

Maybe he can only afford a 100K car because he only has $150k. $130k+tax and he'll have no money left over

2009 C2S. They aren't bad in the snow, with a set of snowies, since the engine is in the back. And how often does it really snow in Vancouver anyway?

+1. If I had $100k to throw on a daily driver, the porsche would take it. Great all around performer with great looks.

hk20000 12-19-2008 05:28 PM

Well C2S is quite a step down from a GTR....

that 996TT is almost perfect.

but then why are we so hyped about what other dude is buying LOL.

Marco911 12-19-2008 08:35 PM

^^C2S might not turn the performance numbers of the GTR but it is a finer car. You look like a dirtbag showing up with a GTR anywhere else but a racetrack.

This isn't about 911s. It's about a guy looking to replace with GTR with something more... interesting. If that's a 911, great. But averaging the sports car experience with practicality will always lead you to a compromise... and why compromise when you can have the best of both worlds?

EDIT: I'd also wager that the R8 mixes sports car ability with daily driver practicality as well as a 911. But niether will cope with inclement conditions :D

Huh? The fact that a car is built for the street and not for the track is by definition compromise. We can parse definitions all day long. Fact of the matter is that this guy sounds like he wants an all-rounded sports car, and the 911 is the best.

take a look at vancouvereuros or euroforums, a few peeps have done that. some shy away from the heavy, fat tech-savy new bimmers and go old school, lightweight forced induction for about $30,000 - that's all done up with the best parts. you can save 5gs on wheels, so make it 25.
give it a thought.

+1

but then you wouldn't seriously be considering a C2S being better than a 996TT now would you? I mean he wants his AWD.... ;)

AWD 911 with snows is a great winter car.

Death2Theft 12-20-2008 11:50 PM

I'd rock an awd 911 as a winter beater only problem is I can't find any winter tires in 18.

observer 12-21-2008 01:26 AM

Lots of winters in 18

Continental, Nokian, Pirelli they all make Porsche OEM N0 rated winters for AWD 911.

1983 Z28 12-21-2008 03:03 AM

Regardless, would you want one right now?

van_driver 12-21-2008 05:16 AM

don't know how much there going for but how about AM V8 Vantage

And the fact that your daily driver Honduh is way shittier than a 911.

hud 91gt 12-21-2008 07:45 AM

Porsche all the way. RWD + LSD + Snowtires + Traction control and you are good to go :)

I have to agree

Don't forget they are twitchy and not easy cars to drive, either!

What about something like a 427 Cobra for the Summer, and a Turbo Cayanne for daily/Winter duties?

OR, an LSx FD Rx-7...

AzNightmare 12-21-2008 11:12 AM

hahah wtf, sounds like a thread of rich people whining. :(

HKBR 01-02-2009 06:28 AM

Stop whining. Wait until the weather gets better and go for a ride on your bike. No car will ever match the experience of a bike.

Dinan3 01-02-2009 07:17 AM

Cool. Thread brought back from FC.

Bring the GTR to the track, it'll end your urge to sell it.
