I can't remember the last time I took skytrain. I feel for those who got delayed.

what type of bullshit logic are you trying to use here lomac? nobody wants to hear your about your crazy thing called reality. this thread is for crying like a massive vagina, apparently.

Got off work early at 4pm, hiked out to willingdon for the #25. After waiting for 30 minutes, I made the 20 minute trek up to Brentwood mall to see what's up.

I arrived to see a bus full of angry, impatient people who have been waiting for 40+ minutes. The bus driver comes back and I ask him what's going on, if he got the "ok" to leave now (since I assumed there was a delay with the route somewhere).

Fucking guy says there's no schedule, he felt like taking an extended smoke break. Thanks for fucking over 30+ people asshole.

And if they spent a fucking fortune on snow equipment and preparations, when the budget shortfall gets worse, people will be saying

last night i had to pickup my cousin in the metro town bus loop, along the way three bus were "out of service" in the brentwood mall bus loop... and then going along wellingdon past moscrop HS three buses " out of service" coming down the hill...

So here's my two cents... everyone knew the big snowdump was going to happen, why didn't anyone do anything about it... why didn't trankslink do anything? where's the fuck is our tax money going too... paying dickless union managers and others to sit on their ass and blame lower level of employees for their mistakes...

heres my story....yesterday was the last day of my 3 month license suspension, so im taking skytrain down to metrotown so I can go get my new license and start driving my benz again. so anyways i leave lougheed mall heading to metro, and i get past sapperton when they PULL THE EBRAKE and the train just comes to a jerking halt. that would be the first of three ebrake stops that day for me on the skytrain. so anyways we get to sapperton and after the ebrake stop some bitch comes on the PA saying theres a tree down at 22nd street or some shit and this train is heading back to lougheed, so im fucked and cant get to metrotown now. so i go back the other way to get to Brentwood to get it there, but it look us like 2 hours to get there cause there was a 15 min stop at every station, plus 2 more Ebrake stops along the way, by the time i got there it was 4:45 and the ICBC office was closed. and of course there closed today and tomorrow. so now ive wasted 25$ on 4 days of insurance that I cant use.

GIVE ME MY LICENSE BACK YOU BASTERDS

Because this isn't typical Vancouver weather. Why should they invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in new snow clearing equipment when the odds are that next year they wont need it?

it could be worse guys... they are operating at a safe speed all because the switches on the track may not switch... in that case you could see yourself head on with another train. guys, we're in vancouver and we never expected to snow this much.

I think Translink should invest in their own personal plows and salter for their own designated routes so they don't have to rely on the city government to help them out.

These "slush funds" the city has are always the penny-pincher of all the funds because no one thinks it's going to snow that much..

So, tell me. What would you like them to do? I'm not being facetious, I'm serious. What could Translink do to prevent or cope with this kind of situation?

After you answer that, tell me where you would like them to get the money for it, knowing that they're currently facing a defecit and will be in the red within 3 years. I seem to recall everyone freaking out in that other thread about possible ways translink may decide to try and tax people for additional sources of revenue.

Again, with what money?

And also, do you think that "slush fund" literally refers to snow & slush?

I love the snow. Wish it would snow more.

Skytrain's main problem is having an above ground rail system. It was built more than 20 years ago, so its not like you can go back in time and solve this problem,

They can try to cope, but delays are inevitable.

So your options are:

stay at home
wait for transit
find an alternative route

It would also only last about a month as proper transit is a giant money losing proposition.

Of course people would make a claim they could make money if they only serviced the busy routes, which is kind of like saying that the Canucks would have a perfect season if they didn't count the losses
