Windows 7 Beta Just installed it in parallels on my OSX system :D so far, Windows 7 runs fine even in a VM environment. Gonna test it on full hardware later. Doesn't seem too much different from Vista in terms of interface, but those UAC crap are all gone, installation is faster, boot up screen is nicer. and it seems to use less memory then Vista. The new task bar needs some time to get used to. I can't wait for the final version to be released. Windows 7 = Vista but less buggy and more fixed. |
damn i need that on my macbook! |
I can't say I'm a fan of the new start menu. |
needs some work on the task bar but overall its a better version of vista |
its running on parallels, aero is not enabled and the start menu is hardly any different from vista. |
You're running this? http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...46186_5539.jpg |
Supposedly much better under the hood, but they really need to make it visually different from Vista if they want to convince people that this is a better product, methinks. |
Nothing wrong with Vista ... Windows 7 is shaping up nicely. I've been installing an updated build every month or so on my Macbook and it works quite well. On a side note, I really, really hate OS X. The more I use it, the more I want to just wipe it right off the hard drive and just run Windows. Fucking inconsistent piece of shit OS. |
Win vista -> 7 = win98 -> winMe I'll pass |
actually it was Win98 -> Win98SE it was so bad, its the only windows version ever to have a Second Edition released. |
funny how everyone complained about xp and everyone just had to have windows 98se now everyone is complaining about vista and everyone just have to have windows xp its a big huge fuken cycle that keeps happening |
^ no one complained when xp was introduced. |
yeah, this still looks like a POS mac desktop. I'll stick with my XP. At least it looks professional. Which is just how I like it. |

day and night difference when o/c it to 1050mhz with 384mb + Ti4400 lol CPU back in 2000-01 was quite happy overclocker...running xp was not really a problem. The only thing I hate was the new Start Menu. |

98/2000 performs better. 98/2000 has better hardware and software support. XP is a bloated Windows 2000 with a facelift. XP has too much stuff running in the background. XP isn't as stable as Windows 2000. etc. It's quite humourous to go back on the few forums that have databases that stretch back that far and read what was written. No one in their right mind would ever proclaim that Windows 98 is better than XP now. |
it could be other people, but I have no problem migrate to a new OS in the past. 95 -> 98 -> 98SE -> 2000 and ME run together -> XP alone. then I am struggling when using Vista (probably the dual program file folders, and they reworded all the buttons). Maybe I prefer stable, user friendly > high end zoom in-zoom out, Aero type of interface. Same thing happened to our IT depart. We ordered 500 Dell w/ Vista, and they downgraded all of them to winxp. |
all i remember XP was a dream come true. the OS worked so well that MS had trouble making it better. stability of the NT system and consumer oriented system (ability to play games was one) back in 98/2000, it was nearly impossible to not dual boot. most games only works on 98, where 2000 was the professional OS with not much consumer support. 98 sucked so much that i had to start using 2000 beta 1 as primary OS all the way until win2k final was released. |
the taskbar looks too big |
been using it on a secondary PC for awhile now.. runs on Old Hardware nice.. 1.4 AMD Athlon 512 Ram Intel Video Runs nice and fast.. Im very impressed.. cant wait for the final version. |
Yeah, people have been putting it on the HP Mini 1000 that I have. Faster than Vista and XP on such limited hardware lol |
Sounds exciting. I have little reservation about Vista anyways, and hearing that 7 takes up less resources that essentially removes any reservation going to the new MS OS. |
