Or are you going to talk about China's "infancy" again and defend its intellectual piracy? Hahaha. | ray kroc didn't build mcdonalds from scratch. he bought it from other people. he didn't invent the burger nor soft drink nor fries.
and plus, you can't copyright food. this is why president's choice, select, western family, etc exists

In related news:
China jails 11 in Microsoft piracy ring
SHANGHAI–A court in southern China convicted 11 people yesterday of violating national copyright laws and participating in a sophisticated counterfeiting ring that for years manufactured and distributed pirated Microsoft software throughout the world.
The men were sentenced by a court in Shenzhen to between 1 1/2 and 6 1/2 years in prison.
Microsoft applauded the sentences, saying they were the stiffest ever handed down in this type of Chinese copyright infringement case. Microsoft has called the group part of "the biggest software counterfeiting organization we have ever seen, by far" and estimated its sales at more than $2 billion (U.S.).
The landmark case involved a joint anti-piracy effort by the FBI and China's Ministry of Public Security. It was also notable because the group operated like a multinational corporation, producing and distributing high-quality counterfeit versions of Windows XP and Office 2007, that was created and packaged almost identically to the real products, despite Microsoft's anti-piracy measures.
Officials say they broke up the criminal ring in July 2007 with the arrest of 25 people in China, the dismantling of several manufacturing facilities and the confiscation of counterfeit software valued at more than $500 million. http://www.thestar.com/article/560399

Y'all just have the mentality that the ones that cost more is "real". Who is it to say that Louis Vouton is not as real as Loius Vooton? Material wise? The logo? The design? Who cares. It's not the logo that sells, it's the merchandise and food that sells.
If one day, the world comes to a devastating end, and people are running out of clothes and food, it wouldn't even matter who's is real or not. You don't like it, don't eat it, you don't like it, don't wear it. Who made you the judge to judge who's is real or not?

Multinational corporations (i.e. Microsoft) understand this development curve well and thus provide free customer service in China to those they know who are using counterfeits of their products. Why? Because they understand China will eventually move up the food chain and when that happens, the government will have to enforce property rights.. thats when foreign companies who already have market share in the Chinese market start making the big bucks. | Pretty much right now China= 1970's Japan

I bet that if MSDOS and Windows 3.1 weren't so easy to copy, Microsoft would not be so big today.

Trust me, blindly defending a country is just going to shorten your life-expectancy. |
I am not blindly defending China, there are lots of reasons to defend....
but it seems to me there are more people defending it than blindly attacking it.
It's equally ignorant to be blindly attacking a country when you have never been.

It's equally ignorant to be blindly attacking a country when you have never been. | I am FROM China, and how is defending piracy by saying "common sense" need not apply in China logical?
No Chinese is THIS stupid, well, none of my friends are.

I am not defending counterfeiting but as the people said above the shops mentioned in this particular news are NOT counterfeiting...
they did not use the exact logos as the original brand and hence this does not contravene copy right laws...
if you are making something similiar this is not legal.

if you are making something similiar this is not legal. | No, this is where you are wrong. My family is in the manufacturing business hence I know.
slight modification of an established logo and use it as your own IS considered piracy violation and therefore counterfeit because these products try to gain unfair advantages over their competitors by associating them with established name brands and pretend to have similar quality and/or characteristics of such when they in fact do not.
It doesnt have to be 100% identical, as long as the logos and products have a enough degree of similarity, you will get hit if the enforcement want to pick you out.
Selling excessive products from over production is not. The guys above are talking about the latter, not Pizza HUH.
Try selling a SQNY PSD with a similar package as a Sony PSP and see what you get as a fine, if you get caught and know no one on the inside.
You seriously need to load up on common sense. It's commone doesnt mean its legal, let alone something to be proud of.
P.S, the reason why there is no legal action against these vendors is because by the time the case reaches a verdict, they will either go out of business or the fine and/or recourse for the legal vendors are too little for them to bother.
Wait a few years when the Chinese Gov't further integrate into WTO and see what happens to those Chinese Car manufacturers who sells BMW lookalike.

there is nothing wrong to admit ones' faults. Fuck I constantly "sample" movies from the internet, but I am not proud of it and I wouldnt brag about it on the internet like a retard.
its a total different story when you defend a country for everything when you are not even FROM THAT COUNTRY.
I should get paid for doing that, not him damn it

Windows in any form is a great, entry-level way into computer use. Its fairly user friendly and straight forward. If you stay away from the parts that look intimidating you can't get into trouble.
Microsoft is huge because they brought computers to be used by the common person.
